Re: Forum update downtime on Monday 4/11
Well I just discovered and read this thread on 11 April 2022 at 12:10 AM UK time, and good that I did as if I hadn't seen it then later to today I would have tried to come to forum and find it was all down — Panic!!!
Great news. Look forward to the new look and maybe some fixed and newly added functionality.
THANKS TO ALL THE FOLKS THAT DESERVE THE THANKS!

Re: (Reverted) Forum update downtime on Monday 4/11
Due to the major problems with logins and moderation tools being more broken on the newer update, we have reverted the forums back to the prior state.
We have some leads we can follow, but we wanted to bring the site back to a known at-least-semi-working state in the meantime.
We do apologize for all the problems this has caused. These problems were not present in the local environment I used to test the upgrade process.

Years back there was a shadow copy skulking around - http://forums-test.mozillazine.org with a database of real posts, etc. Perhaps that could be used to test out updates/ideas on?osuadmin wrote:Due to the major problems with logins and moderation tools being more broken on the newer update, we have reverted the forums back to the prior state..
Good job that no one ever listens to you then, isn't it?Snake4 wrote:only way i can see a upgrade working , an thats to blow away this board an start fresh

Yes forums-test.mozillazine.org and boards.mozillazine.org were used for testing over the years at times.Frank Lion wrote:Years back there was a shadow copy skulking around - http://forums-test.mozillazine.org with a database of real posts, etc. Perhaps that could be used to test out updates/ideas on?osuadmin wrote:Due to the major problems with logins and moderation tools being more broken on the newer update, we have reverted the forums back to the prior state..

Perhaps as a extreme last last resort. Even with your old account names you are still new here as 2014 is not old. I would say it is the Admin, the mods and those that have been here since early on that have a say.Snake4 wrote:only way i can see a upgrade working , an thats to blow away this board an start fresh

Appreciate the effort and the communication! Hopefully you will have better luck on the next try!

The staging / testing forum has been deployed to https://forums-staging.mozillazine.org -- things seem marginally better. I will still be troubleshooting over the next couple days.
