Linux Performance Degredation

Post by tonyb »

Hi All,

When using Phoenix .4 for Linux (pre-compiled .4 distrobution), I've noticed on some of the longer web pages, the performance of Phoenix goes down the tubes. Clicking on a link, then going back takes entirely too long, and sends CPU through the roof.

It doesn't show this performance degredation immediately... only after looking at a long page a few times, such as a blog. Sometimes a simple "back" will take 30 seconds of a hung, CPU hogging browser. Killing or quitting, then starting up, will temporarily alleviate the issue (until it occurs again).

This is not the case with Phoenix .4 for Windows XP.

The same machine (dual boot) is being used.

The only difference between my Linux Phoenix .4 build is that I'm using the GTK+ libgfx_gtk.so from a Mozilla build made to use XFT2 (I hate non-XFT X11 fonts).

I havn't yet tested with a reverted/vanilla Phoenix .4 build, that is my next step.
