On my PC with XP Pro SP3, FF 3.0.10 does not freeze on java.com anywhere. After using "Check for Updates..." to upgrade FF to 3.0.11, FF freezes with any of the following scenarios:
1. Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
2. Go to http://www.java.com, click on "Downloads" at the top of the page.
3. Go to http://www.java.com, click on "Help Center" at the top of the page.
4. Go to http://www.java.com, click on "Do I have Java?" in the center of the page.

I have to close FF, and choose "End Now" in the pop up saying FF is not responding, to recover from the freeze. When I restart FF, it doesn't matter whether I restore the previous session or not, FF returns to normal.

The same problem exists on my two PCs with XP Pro SP3, one with Java 1.6.0_13, and the other with Java 1.6.0_14.
Running FF in Safe Mode produces the same problem, so Add-Ons are not the issue.
The same problem occurs when Java Quick Starter is either enabled or disabled (Control Panel|Java|Advanced tab|Miscellaneous menu).

Java in FF works OK on the following web sites:
http://www.javatester.org/enabled.html
http://www.javatester.org/version.html
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

I can verify that freezing problem with Firefox 3.0.11 and Java 1.60._13 on W2K - Java Quick Start extension was enabled. All four of the pages you listed caused Firefox to lockup and I had to End Process thru the Control Panel.

Same problem here with the 4 Java site links but it works fine at the few sites I use it on.
Example: http://www4.passur.com/lax.html
'Test Java Virtual Machine' works OK.
XP Pro SP3, Java 1.6.0_14.
Edit: Same behavior here when I click Java (on the left). http://browserspy.dk/

I am seeing exactly the same FF-3.0.11 behaviour as described above by SilentMusic7. I'm using Windows XP Home + SP3 + Java-1.6.0_14, and I have also seen the same problem with XP Pro + SP3 + Java-1.6.0_13. I have no FF add-ons (I did have some, but I uninstalled them all in a futile attempt to pin down the bug).

Reverting to 3.0.10 fixes it for me too, but I don't really want to do that because I want the other fixes that are in 3.0.11. I can live without visiting the problematic java.com pages - for a while, anyway - but I'm concerned that the bug may show up on other pages too.

Does anyone know if this forum is monitored by Mozilla developers - or do we have to do something else to report the bug "properly"?

It's been reported in the builds section where the dev's regularly monitor stuff and I have no doubt an official bug will be filed if it hasn't been already :)

It may be a JavaScript issue rather than one with Java. If JavaScript is disabled the links in the first post do not cause Firefox to freeze, it only causes problems with JavaScript enabled.

I can't find this report in Firefox Builds. Can you provide a link to the relevant topic? I also can't find a recent confirmed report of this problem in bugzilla. Can anyone tell me which one it is?

Edit: I've submitted bug 498132, Firefox 3.0.11 freezes with Java.
