FF 54.0.1 started displaying the Windows message "stopped working, check online or close program" when I close FF (i.e. close X button). Happens every time. No damage, just a bit irritating.
Reinstalled, no change.
There are no add-ins.
I've read that malware can sometimes cause failures, but those seem to be under different circumstances.
Any ideas?

Just a couple of items... when you close Firefox by using File/Exit... does it happen then?
...you probable have AV/scanning software hanging around... would not hurt to check out your system... these are very much recommended...
These are FREE ... you install them and just run them from time to time.

As you can see she's (The CAT) always alert and on the prowl for Meoware !!

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?
