Trackpoint scroll doesn't work
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040504 Firefox/0.8.0+
installer, no extensions.
im using an IBM T40p with an UltraNav touch pad and pointing device. the scroll button doesn't work anymore. The mouse icon changes but nothing scrolls in firefox. Works in every other application, including IE.
anyone else experience this?

Posted: Wed 5th May 2004 6:23pm Virtual scrolling on (Touchpad) laptop doesn't work...
Hmmm, with a new profile and FF directory, my 3 extensions installed without any issues:
TBE ver:1.10.2004050101
Tab Preferences
Compact Menu
However, my 'virtual scrolling' on my WinXP SP1 laptop (Touchpad) does not work at all...same Synaptics driver (the most recent on their site), that has worked fine for the last 50 nightlies (trunk) builds that I have used...
Went into Tools--->Options--->Advanced and checked then unchecked both:
Autoscroll & Smoothscrolling, (just for a test) and still 'virtual scrolling' does not work at all...
Are there any other laptop Touchpad owners experiencing this? Back to the 20040503 trunk build for moi...usng a Compaq Presario 1450 laptop
****EDIT*****
After unchecking/rechecking the Synaptics Touchpad's 'Virtual scrolling' option a couple of times (8 times total), it is now working ok with FF...something during Firefox's initial 'start up'...messed with it somehow...
You have to love testing an alpha/beta app.
I am using the Synaptics Touchpad 7.5.7 NewUI2k/XP driver, that has worked perfectly with 'all' other Firebird & Firefox nightlies..Something within the 05/04 & 0505 Nightly (trunks) are conflicting badly with these touchpad features...

Yes same here as I was quite frustrated, that I forgot to mention this point...

oi, i cant seem to duplicate what you did to fix this. im almost sure this is a synaptics touchpad, ibm just rebrands it as UltraNav. where is this scroll under pointer/item option located? ive got an app called UltraNav wizard that has all my pointing profiles in it but the only options i get for the scroller are Standard, Smooth, and Auto-select. Then there's an extra UltraNav tab in the mouse control panel too but its all the same stuff just arranged a little differently. please help :-/

hi,
same thing here, though i am pretty sure it worked 1-2 weeks ago with older builds, i cant say when it stopped working, but i noticed it yesterday.
i got a IBM T40p, with ultra nav software installed, scrolling doesnt work neither with touchpad border scroll function nor with track point and middle thinkpad button, as it is supposed to be, and does in every other app including IE.
what i can do to work around this issue is go to "Track Point Properties/Settings of Track Point" on the Ultra Nav Tab in Mouse Properties -> Choose Scrolling or Magnifying Glass Function -> Settings -> and switch Scrolling type from STANDARD to SMOOTH. this makes scrolling with track point and middle button work again, though still no scrolling with the touchpad scroll function only :-/
did u guys change anything mouse scrolling related? (though scrolling with a mouse/mouse wheel works absolutely fine...e.g. logitech mouse + logitech mouse drivers)
regards,
Thorsten

This is not the best way to go about getting things fixed. First of all this bug is in a nightly build, we've been able to establish when this bug crept in so you can easily revert.
Secondly, the best thing you can do is <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html">file a bug report</a>, if one hasn't already been filed. If one has been filed, vote for the bug.
