Hopefully it can be posted sense the site has officially disappeared
thanks in advance

If Aronnax has stopped development, it's highly doubtful that older builds will work correctly with the upcoming Beta 7. There are a ton of new things landing in that beta that will break themes based even on older betas.

We've got a few threads going in Theme Development for pooling our resources to help each other figure out all of the new changes. I don't think we should all have to figure this all out on our own!

Aronnax,

Naturally i don't know what's going on with GrApple or with yourself, but for whatever it's worth, i would be pretty disappointed if you stopped working on your theme. I think it's a pretty crucial part of the Mac Firefox community, personally; in fact, the single reason i haven't upgraded to FF4 yet on my Mac is because of the uncertainty surrounding the theme situation. :/

Whatever happens, thanks for the work you've done so far. It's been appreciated!

FYI, there is no Firefox 4.0 to "upgrade" to yet. It is still heavily under development and things that break themes and extensions are still landing every day. While some developers are actively engaged in keeping up with the changes, many are waiting for development to settle down enough that unexpected changes aren't happening on a weekly or daily basis.

I realise that. But i have always upgraded to FF betas the moment they became available, and Aronnax has traditionally kept up with Minefield and betas himself (something i've always been thankful for).

Just want to express my love for this theme and say I will be tremendously sad if there's not a version for 4.0! I'm using the nightly builds right now, and the thing I miss most is the GrApple look!

Even if you decide to not continue development, thanks for the enormous amount of work you've put into this theme Aronnax :)

Aronnax!

Just wanted to let you know we miss you a lot!
Can you please update us what's the nature of the issues which force you to suspend/abandon your beautiful work?
If you let us in on some details, who knows, we might find a way collectively ...
And that would help us deal with anxiety of suspense - what future holds - don't laugh we became seriously hooked on your mastery ...

Hi,
about the takebacktheweb.org domain: John Hicks sponsored the site many years and he won't do it anymore - that`s all.
New Firefox 4.0 themes must be entirely rebuild and it makes not much sense to update an old theme. In particular when the default goes into a very similar direction as my old themes. Or in other words: When i want to continue my themes save it endless hours to wait for a more or less complete default and built then on top of this new GrApple versions. To update themes for nighties or beta versions is by the way most of the time only stupid boring work and after some years of theme building is it hard to find the motivation for these boring stuff.
As you can see, many different reasons for this intermission ... and most likely only a intermission.

Regards

By the way, many thanks for the support :D

Here's hoping Aronnax will develop his themes for FF4 when it's released. His themes are the most tasteful, well thought out I've used on any app ever. Firefox on the Mac is practically unusable without his themes.

Thanks for the great work all these years, Aronnax. Here's hoping this ain't the end!

Hi,
some updates about a new GrApple theme(s):
It or they are intended probably around beta 9 or beta 10.

Please read this about still intended Firefox 4.0 changes:
http://limi.net/articles/firefox-ux-tea ... Firefox%29

Until then have some maybe fun with these userChrome.css changes - only for Firefox 4.0 and the default theme:

Code: Select all

/* Tab Arrangement */
.tab-close-button { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 !important;}
.tab-text { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2 !important;}
.tab-throbber { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 3 !important;}
.tab-icon-image { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 4; visibility: hidden !important;}

.tabbrowser-tab[pinned] .tab-icon-image {
  visibility: visible !important;
}

/* Hide Tab Close Buttons */
.tab-close-button {
  visibility: hidden !important;
}
tab:hover .tab-close-button {
  visibility: visible !important;
}

/* Hide Toolbar Facicons  */
.bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon {
   display: none !important;
}

/* Personal Toolbar smaller  */
#PersonalToolbar {
  padding-top: 1px !important;
  padding-bottom: 2px !important;
}

/* Personal Bookmarks smaller  */
#personal-bookmarks menu,
#personal-bookmarks menuitem  {
  max-width: 460px !important;
  font-size: 10pt !important;
}

/* Awesome Bar stuff */
#urlbar .autocomplete-history-dropmarker  {
  display: none !important;
}
.autocomplete-richlistitem:not(:first-child) {
  border-top: 1px solid #e6e6e6 !important;
}
.ac-url-text {
  color: #959595 !important;
}
.ac-url-text[selected="true"] {
  color: white !important;
}

/* Searchbar stuff */
.searchbar-engine-image {
  visibility: hidden !important;
  width: 9px !important;
}
.searchbar-textbox > .autocomplete-textbox-container  {
  background-image:  url("chrome://browser/skin/Search.png")  !important;
  background-repeat: no-repeat  !important;
  background-position: 4px 4px !important;
}
.search-go-button {
  display: none !important;
}

/* Sidebar stuff */
sidebarheader {
  -moz-box-direction: reverse !important;
  text-align: center !important;
  padding-right: 26px !important;
  padding-bottom: 0px !important;
}
treechildren::-moz-tree-separator {
  border-top: 1px dashed #6f8b9f !important;
}
#sidebar-splitter:-moz-window-inactive {
  -moz-border-end: 1px solid #8B8B8B !important;
}
