Macro for jumping to last/first unread mail in a folder

Post by doktor5000 »

Hello,

since some time i'm trying to find a solution for a little problem of mine.
I want something like a macro for the following task:

Sort by unread, then sort by date and jump to the first or last
unread mail in a particular folder. Somebody recommended the keysnail
addon to me, but it does not seem like it could record this as a macro.
Is there some builtin-function that allows me to do this
or is there some other way to workaround this?

I have to do this often so i'd like a way to automate that.

Regards

See if the Last Message add-on is useful. You might need to use it with a saved search (aka virtual folder) that contains only unread messages if that add-on isn't smart enough to jump to the last unread message, and just jumps to the last message.

Is there some builtin-function

I think the Previous / Next icons exist natively, just need to be dragged up and dropped on the toolbar/menubar.

Hello again,

sorry for the late response but i kind of forgot about this thread.

Thanks to tanstaafl for the tip, but the addon itself does nothing.
The hint about saved searches as virtual folders was really nice.
After creating the virtual folder it's only a matter of scrolling to the last mail.

The problem is, i have to do this for every mailing list i'm subscribed to, and that are many.
It's not that it's much work, but i'd just like to know if there is no other way
of doing this. Somebody recommended Keysnails addon to me, where
you can record your own macro. But seems the sequence of going to the last
unread email can't be recorded, FWIW, this would be the sequence for the macro:

(sort by unread mails, sort by date, scroll to the last unread one, click on it,
the sort by date again to get you normal view back)

Doing this every time manuall is really tedious. ](*,)
