Alt+d not working anymore

Post by Milen »

On this page it's clearly said that if you need to go to the Location Bar you could use Alt+D, F6 or Ctrl+L. In the past all of these worked. Suddenly the Alt+D stopped. I can't remember exactly when but I believe it was like 2-3 weeks ago. When I discovered this bug I thought that it could be something with my profile or even the windows settings. But today I installed fresh copy of WinXP and the latest nightly Firebird build (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030628 Mozilla Firebird/0.6) and the bug is here also.

Anyone else noticed it? It's important for me because I used to use this keyboard shortcut a lot when IE was my default browser.

Check your caps lock. If it's on, then the Alt-letter shortcuts won't work.

Also, some pages such as the bugzilla bug reports assign their own functions to Alt-D and some of the other Alt-letter shortcuts.

F6 should still work in any case.

works fine,
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030626 Mozilla Firebird/0.6

but i always use ^L anyway

Same's happened to me: no Alt-D.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b; StumbleUpon.com) Gecko/20030601 Mozilla Firebird/0.6

I wasn't going to mention it, but just thought I'd corroborate.

I'm still experiencing this on a win2k machine at work. Is there anything I can do to fix it? I've uninstalled a reinstalled Firefox 1.0.3 and that didn't help.

On that machine, try using the Alt-D in some other app where it's supposed to do something, and see if it does it. If it doesn't, try a different keyboard.

Which language version of Firefox are you using? I had the same problem and searching the web I saw that German users were really annoyed by the alt+d binding because this should open their File menu. I installed the English version which brought back the alt+d shortcut.

Hi reddari,
Why ask in such an old thread?
I doubt whether the OP is still monitoring it.
