I have just updated to 4 and can not see any addons as being installed.
Profiles.ini is at: /home/rob/.mozilla/firefox/profiles.ini
It seems to be in the right place. Should the content be changed for 4. I wish to use the default profile. Currently it contains:
Code: Select all
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=0 Path=/media/mydocs/FFprofile/4tl537wk.default Default=1 [Profile1] Name=Which IsRelative=0 Path=/media/mydocs/FF_which_profile [Profile2] Name=Harmony IsRelative=1 Path=Harmony

If you go to about:support (or Help - Troubleshooting Information), what's listed?

Please try the instructions given right here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_ins ... sion_files (Note: I tried renaming the extensions.* files in my own Firefox profile and found Firefox does not rebuild the extension list correctly and totally wiped my extension list, which is never supposed to happen. I'm unsure if the same thing will happen on your side when you try the instructions, but please make sure
you don't delete the extensions.* files but only rename them !)

Firefox 4 doesn't use the same extensions.* files as Firefox 3.x.x versions did, most were replaced by the extensions.sqlite file in Firefox 4. .
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

From about:support, if you click "Open Containing Folder", a window should pop up pointing to your profile. Go into the "extensions" folder. Is there anything in there?

They are in the /media/mydocs/FFprofile/4537wk.default/extensions Under the add on manager there is no extensions or no addons. Within the profile folder there is a file extensions.sqlite

Try this:
Delete the following files from your Profile (if present):
addons.sqlite
addons.sqlite-journal
compatibility.ini
extensions.ini
extensions.log
extensions.sqlite
Firefox will recreate them if needed.
Win7 Pro SP1 64 Bit
Comodo Internet Security
Pale Moon 33.1.0, Epyrus Mail 2.1.2, Firefox 115.10.0esr, Thunderbird 115.10.1, and SeaMonkey 2.53.18.2

Copy everything from within the extensions folder to somewhere safe, just in case. Then shut down Firefox, and delete that extensions.sqlite file. Start Firefox again.

I followed your advice. It does not seem to have worked. The position with the extensions and addons is the same as before I deleted the sqlite file.

Do you have an addons.sqlite file like Grizzly suggested above?

No, I do not have the addons.sqlite or addons.sqlite.journal. I have the others referred to above ie compatability. ini and Extensions.ini/log/sqlite.

I tried reinstalling via synaptic and that has made no difference. Any ideas?
