Phoenix 0.4 and Windows 95

Post by dp »

Phoenix 0.3 ran fine on a Win95a box. 0.4 doesn't and is listed under known issues. The reason stated that it's because of Mozilla core code, however, Mozilla 1.2b runs fine on Win95. Any chance someone can track down why this is? I am looking for a light weight browser to run on Win95a and this browser looked like the answer until v0.4 came out.

The Phoenix 0.4 Release Notes state that this "impacts all Mozilla-based products created after about Oct. 23rd". Mozilla 1.2b was released on Oct. 16th.

This was Bug 177083 - Mozilla does not start on Windows 95, which was fixed on Oct. 30th, one day after the Phoenix 0.4 release.

Current nightlies work on Win95, and so will Phoenix 0.5 probably, although there is Bug 182695 - no hand cursor over link, which needs to be wiped out before the release to make it really usable on 95 and NT4.

Thanks for the feedback laszlo, I'll be watching for the new release.

I believe that Phoenix 0.5 works on Windows 95.

You're right. On Windows 95/NT this is the case. Phoenix still works though except for this issue. At least its not as bad as before where it didn't work at all.
