Too bad there's no Windows Media Player plugin for x64.

Which ancient site still uses Windows Media? Say what you will about Flash but it's done one thing great. It managed to rid the world of Windows Media, Real, and Quicktime.

Re: Firefox 4.0 64 Bit
QuickTime is still kicking because of OSX. Real is all but dead and WMP is on its way out because of Silverlight not necessarily because of Flash. WMP was still being used in a number of streaming tools until a year or two ago.

WMP is still largely used. It'll be irrelevant the same day people stop using IE6.
I just open IE when it is needed. *shrugs*

Change "webgl.force-enabled" to true in about:config.

I've been running more and more often into the canvas font rendering bug. For example, check out the words "experience" and "simplicity" at the top of this page:
www.nitroreader.com/features/
It hasn't even been marked as confirmed yet, so no point in hoping for a fix in the near future.
Bug 634988 - Canvas elements rendering Cufon text are corrupted on Win64

Your bug is likely a duplicate of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=635463
And, yes, it is not even confirmed yet because: 1) Win64 builds are not being officially supported yet; 2) Mozilla is trying to get 4.0 out at all costs.

I doubt it has anything to do with it. Hardware acceleration is not disabled, and it deals with corrupted font rendering on web pages, not visual artefacts in the interface.

Sorry, I didn't read your bug. Just opened the link you put here and saw the same rendering problems and assume it was it. Hence "likely" -- I wasn't sure.

Re: Firefox 4.0 64 Bit
Which would be the most stable Win64 build/branch? I've been using Minefield (now Nightly 6.0a1) but wondered whether this was the most suitable for an ordinary user given that there seem to be now several different pre-release versions of Firefox. I'm not clear whether there is more than one Win64 version. I did feel that the 64 bit version was faster than the 32 bit version, when I first installed it a couple of months ago. Not had any serious problems with it either, but I do realise instabilities can be introduced with such a cutting edge version and would prefer to have something a bit further down the chain!

Re: Firefox 4.0 64 Bit
As long as Mozilla doesn't officially support 64 bit Fx for Windows, there only will be Nightly builds.
