Right click on the Toolbar and select "Customize" from the context menu. Drag the "Send" icon from the palette that appears and drop it in whatever location on the Toolbar suits you.

Thanks, but there is no Send in the customize window. Nor do I recall that when I had a Send before it was on the toolbar, rather way over in the upper left corner.

Are you customizing the Toolbar in an open "Write" (composition) window? The Send button is not available on the main Thunderbird window.

I'm not sure what track you're on here. I'm customizing nothing. The Send button just stopped showing up and that is when I reply via the main screen. (I don't find a Reply button on the read screen.) Send and Reply are now only available by menu on any screen. Oh, and keyboard from the reply screen.

Make sure you have the toolbar displayed: In the reply window try menu path View->Toolbars->Mail Toolbar.

Then customize that toolbar to add the Send button.

As I already said, there is no Send in the customize dialog.

What version of Thunderbird are you using?
Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Apparently I just sent a sizable reply to that Great Bit Bucket in the Sky.

Suffice it to say, after looking at it in safe mode I found two toolbars had died in regular mode. Got it right now.

Thanks

Added: There were also a couple tool bars that suddenly appeared as well as the two that vanished.
