i just noticed there is a little resize gripper in the lower right corner of the "post a reply" box. is that new?
lee-

Dunno Lee, never noticed until you mentioned it :er:

It's new in Firefox 4.0. Used to be you had to install an extension e.g. "Resize TextArea" to get this.

I've been ignoring the text area below posts in lots of forums because it used to be for Quick Replies, which never worked. I didn't realise this one had changed.

Shows how much notice I take Phil!

Keith

Nothing new here ?
I'm waiting for two add-ons before upgrading to FF4, and of course one of them is Update Notifier...

You must be kidding me! Can't you just go to the addons manager and check for updates once a week or something? Plus, with Fx updating in the background soonish, this wouldn't even be needed at all. I wouldn't hold my breath for an updated.

Well don't forget the Add-Ons Manager was rebuilt from scratch for Firefox 4. Update Notifier would have to be rebuilt from scratch for Firefox 4 compatibility that is provided if tmlong didn't cease development for some reason.

makondo... can't you just go to the "Respect the others" manager and let them have their own point of view? do you see what I mean?
But nevermind, thanks for the piece of informations about the soon-to-come background updates, I've just upgraded to FF4.

Very interesting this news about "background updates".
I hope it will come with a comfortable interface such as Update Notifier.
Where can I find informations about that?

Very sad Update Notifier will not be upgraded anymore. It was one of my "essential" addons.
Very strange no developer thought about "adopt" this extension and make a version for FF4 (and FF5/FF6/... according to new development philosophy).

Nobody says it will not be updated. We're saying that it will need a total re-write and since the ext. hasn't been updated for 2 years now, the chances of this happening are quite slim.
Here's some about auto-updates - http://jboriss.wordpress.com/, google for more.

Thanks.

Update notifier was a bit in late when Firefox reached the version 3.5, and now with the v4 out from long time and the author don't answer to the request in the addons page. The addon and the site don't receive an update from 2009. Two years are a bunch of time, many things could be happened, and I thought the author simply can't go on with the development any more.

About auto-updates your link is enough clear, thanks.
Before asking I tried to use google to search, but I didn't obtain any useful result. As you probably can see :p English is not my native language, so often it is difficult for me to find the right words for a search that result not so easy.

I hope the new auto-update system will use some kind of icon to warn the user as Update Notifier does.
And will be useful an easy access to "install all updates", "restart firefox", "install all updates and restart" functions.
