Re: Azure Progress
So the first step is improving performance for stuff like IE9 testdrive stuff.
Second step would be making actual everyday websites perform better like forums and youtube.
Amirite ?

I better link some quoted text and link here to give better idea what Azure is.Sounds exiting

Comparing Performance: Azure vs Cairo
Mozilla Posts First Firefox 7 Azure Build
Mozilla is promising a huge graphics performance improvement with its new Azure 2D graphics API. A first, non-optimized version of the API shows substantially more speed than the previous Cairo API.

Re: Azure Progress
As long as it doesn't make graphics WORSE/SLOWER for people without HA as the 3.0+ font implementations have done. On reading through the comments is sounds like if no HA is detected Firefox will just keep on trucking with Cairo... which makes me hope that further fine tuning of Cairo doesn't suffer as Azure steps to the fore-front.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

When (if at all) will we see azure on a regular 7.0a1 nightly build?

But only for rendering the canvas element and I have not seen any indication that it will be turned on by default. It's a brand new API after all.

I stand corrected: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.c ... 51858#c101
It's quite impressive to get this thing off the ground in such a short time.

Re: Azure Progress
It was developed for a longer period, but was not pushed to Bugzilla. Despite of that, Bas' work is awesome.
