I think that the title should be: "The Official Win32 20110625 ...." or am I wrong?

Anyway, after yesterday's excitement, the Aurora update was uneventful.

That bug has finally been fixed. In fact, from the latest comments on it, Win64 builds should update as expected once they become available later today.

Dammit, removing http from the URL is the stupidest idea ever. It does not make it more user-friendly and only serves to confuse. Why should http get special treatment?

Because you don't need to see http:// to know that it's http://?

I guess they are planning on having the portion to the left show if you are on a secure connection (https://), etc. :-k

And why not remove ftp? We see a directory structure so we know that its ftp right? Oh why not remove https as well? We have a favicon that highlights blue or green when there is encryption. Your argument is invalid and a poor attempt to hide the inconsistency that is removing http from urls. Anyways, just a pet peeve easily solved by changing browser.urlbar.trimURLs in about:config.

I still see it but it is a tad blurry.

OK if I disable Status 4 Evar, I can't see it.

I, on the other hand, like it very much. It was unnecessary to be displayed all the time, and this update is a nice space saver addition.

By the way, can we edit what all do we want to trim out in about:config somehow?

Removing ftp and https is confusing, you and I both know it'd be better if they're clearly indicated, but http is just so common that it's really okay if we decide not to mention it.
But like you said, there's always a pref so people not used to the change can turn it off, and that's why we love Firefox, isn't it?

PS. I think the main reason they do this is actually, you know, [parity-chrome]™.

Sorry, but, what are you talking about? Where did you see that they plan to remove "http."

Nice idea. I hope they will do it like Opera.

Edit: Lol! Just now realized it has been removed already! But... Why they left the last part, which usually is junk, uncovered? Anyway.

Ah...I was referring to the favicon portion of the location bar...
