Use Stylish & CSS to create 2-line view in Thunderbird

Post by dave_is_sexy »

I'm speculating, but so far as I can tell it should be possible to use Stylish to create a 2-line view in Thunderbird, like the one in Postbox. Are there any CSS geniuses who could take this on? It seems to be a frequently requested enhancement.

Maybe a bit of float:left; height; and margin-left? :-)

Thanks
NB: If this is solved in Tb 3 or newer, I'd still like a Tb 2 solution. Cheers.

You're right, this has been frequently requested, but no one has ever been able to do it.

I'm going to move this to Thunderbird Features. It's a more appropriate place than Web Dev.

howdy dis,

from what i can figure out, that can't be done with css. the msg list display is shown in a special "treerow" object. that can only show one line, apparently.

here are a few bugs that relate to the problem ...
- Mail listing needs more organization in 3 vertical pane view (like Outlook, Lotus Notes et al.)
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213945
- Treerows need a way to hold richer content
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441414
- Request for Outlook-style AutoPreview feature to see first few lines of messages
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307070

IMPORTANT!
if a bug fits your situation, you might want to vote for it ... and perhaps add yourself to the CC list. please, do NOT comment unless you have new info. bugspamming - "me too" comments and various rants [*grin*] - is a good way to get the bug ignored.

take care,
