Call it Phoenix.org

Why not call it Phoenix.org? Would there still be a trademark infringement.

Anyway, I would like a name in the "lizard cathegory" eg Salamander or something :)

If we are talking about lizard likes, I'd prefer Salamando instead of Salamander. At least then you'd also have a domain name that is free ;-) www.salamando.org

No, it's not. But it's not GOOD either (sorry). I agree with Stefan that it should be lizard-related. Phoenix might not have been the best name to begin with - though we all learned to love it.

Why not just call it WebLizard - fastest Gecko on the net!

How about "Nirvana" or "Navana";)? A poem called <a href="http://chinese.pku.edu.cn/wenxianzl/classic/classics/057.htm">"The Nirvana of Phoenix"</a>, by a famous Chinese writer and poet, reminds me of this Buddhism word.

Actually, I don't think I've ever seen any of the developers say it. Just certain people on these forums.

i was assuming that these people are more buddybuddy with the developers than i am and knew what they were talking about. mistake? possibly. have i ever seen a developer say differently? no. that's why i said "from what i understand", not that this is a hard fact. :) very possibly the people who said it could be full of bs. dunno. personally, i think it sounds valid, but that's me.

Nope, Asa or Blake have definitely said at least once that they don't want to be yet-another-zilla or Mozilla Lite or anything like that.

Anyway, all the yet-another-zilla names are boring, derivative and confusing for moz newbies anyway.

grisu

named after "grisu der kleine drache" or "grisu the small dragon".
it used to be a cartoon about a small dragon, who wanted to become firefighter, but had always trouble as he ever burnt something when he got upset.
