For your e-mailing pleasure:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/ ... 7-08-trunk

Feature of the week is a tie between the new compose window icons and the new options UI overhaul.

New Features
----------------
1) The compose window now has new Qute based icons. Many thanks To Arvid! Small icons now also work in compose.

2) The options dialog has been re-organized to reduce the amount of random cruft that sits inside the advanced panel. There is still more work to be done but the new re-write makes a lot more sense than what we had.

3) You can now access the certificates manager under Account Settings / Security. This means it is now possible for S/MIME users to now import their digital certificates in Thunderbird without doing it by hand.

4) Expose pref UI for re-using the same stand alone message window or opening messages in new stand alone windows. (Tools / Options / General)

Known Issues
----------------

1) There is still a lurking crasher in the address book when modifying properties on a card. Haven't been able to reproduce it in a debug build yet but it sure is easy to trigger in optimized bits.

2) Tools / Options / Fonts & Languages, the pixel size menu list drop downs next to the fonts, show truncation dots ("...") instead of the pixel sizes. Haven't figured out what part of the options re-write caused this yet.

Enjoy,
-Scott

Can you copy over the code from <a href="http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/mail/base/skin/primaryToolbar.css#38">primaryToolbar.css #38-#50</a> to messengercompose.css so that small buttons with no text & text-only buttons are available?

Could we have a customize context menu on the toolbar.. Currently you have to use View->Toolbars->Customize.. It should really be the same as the main toolbar..

Other than that the Compose window looks great :) Good work Scott and Arvid :)

I'm not seeing anything in the drop downs.. They are completely blank.. no '...' or pixel sizes.. Just thought I'd mention that in case it helps tracking it down..

I'm seeing some weird behavior trying to use the Phoenity theme! In the customize box, I can see the Phoenity icons, but when I drag them onto the toolbar in the main window they change into the normal icons. Dragging any of the normal icons back onto the customize box turns them back into the correct Phoenity icons.

Is anyone else seeing this weird behaviour, or is this a known bug..??

Regards - Stuart.

Very happy with the new build, the icons are a nice addition.

If I'm in the trash folder and I choose to delete the messages in the trash, it's almost like ghost images of them will still be there until I leave the folder and come back. The only thing that is left of them when I empty the trash while looking at the folder are the envelope icons on the left side of the window and the "flag" selector icon somewhere in the middle. Leave the folder and come back and they are gone, the trash is empty.

This is obviously not a life threatening bug, more an observation. I'm sure there are FAR more pressing issues that are being looked at right now, but hey, thought I would mention it while I was thinking about it.

This has been the case in all the builds so far. Envelopes and the 'dot' in the Junk Mail column are still there until you have clicked something else and gone back.

They look very nice. Can't wait for the adressbook artwork.

The button for the certificate manager is nearly inacessible, since it's mostly hidden, because the account-settings-window is too small.

I don't see any dots here. The drop down dialog is completely blank.

Is there still this bug? I changed client because of this but is it fixed now?

If someone has send me and email with (A HUGE something like 20MB or so, or a tiny it happens but u wont realise) attachment in post and im going to just read the text part it appears that it starts to download the attachment and after downloading it shows me the text. That is sad (it should not download attachments until i want), i really dont have time to wait whole attachments being download until i can read the text! Using IMAP sure...

Unfortunately, the problem with the attachment window in a received message is still present ...

I'm really looking forward to the redesign of the attachment window as discussed in another thread (if it's coming)... I would rather see that one, than see the current one fixed!

can anyone comment on resource usage on WinXP? Is it getting leaner? (because I see that in fact, the download has gotten a little fatter over time already)
