Just FYI, things are liable to be changing considerably in the relatively near future, at least on trunk: Bug 522572 - Places Query API refactor/redesign, and others.

Boolean'ized (AND/OR/NOT) tags would finally deliver on that "faceted search" promise that first attracted me to Places, literally years ago(!). Cool.

twondog22 wrote:to create a smart folder for all tags listed A-Z is simply
place:type=6&sort=17

my question is what do i need to add to the code so that the Bookmarks under each Tag are sorted A-Z?????
....to explain in further detail....when i click the smart folder and then scroll down to the tag "Sports" the listed Bookmarks under sports are not alphabetized ie the 1st one is NFL.com followed by Espn.com

just adding &sort=1 just created the identical smart folder

Has anyone found a way to do this? Or an extension?

For the last three years I've been living with my bookmarks being in a confusing order, since I access my bookmarks through a Smart Bookmark with place:type=6&sort=1. I've filed a bug report some years ago (Bug 458663), but unfortunately it didn't get much attention.

Bug 421118 states that child elements can have their own sort property (how?) but that this doesn't work because the sorting property is inherited. However, in my case the sort order isn't inherited. The order seems to be more or less random.

Is there a option or an add-on to change folder icons in the toolbar for firefox to a different color or ico file?

I want it so i can differentiate between the different folder icons in my toolbar.

i figured out how to do it but i wish they had a bookmark favicon folder changer for the toolbar addon. It would be much easier then having to change the paths in userChrome.css every time.

I'm having no luck getting the Mobile Bookmarks folder (ID 661) to work with this technique.

If anyone is still privy to the ins and outs of this stuff 7 years on from the original post, can you tell me why place:folder=661 won't give me a functioning link to the Mobile Bookmarks folder?
