Re: [Ext] Some Add-Ons...

If you change the name of this thread to something like "Diego Casorran's Ext's" it will be a whole lot more helpful for people using the forum, as well as your users to figure out what the heck it is. ;)
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

Hi Patrick,

I just did what you suggested (your post count told me you should have a good criteria here), although i'm not sure if it'll sound too narcissist... :-k

I was just worried about your topic getting lost in the shuffle... if a thread is *too* generic it will just be ignored, or difficult to find later.

I didn't feel too comfortable with that topic, so i changed it - also, i take the opportunity to bump the thread :)

Not compatible with Firefox portable... tried didn't work but did work on a standard Fx installation.

My question is about a FX portable on hard disk and not by external usb pen. :wink:

It doesn't matter if Fx Portable is launch from a usb drive or hard disk, Fx portable is launched using the FirefoxPortable.exe not Firefox.exe, so the Preloader add-on is incompatible with Fx portable.

I never used "Firefox Portable" myself, but it can be easily checked if it will work or no:

1) Open a cmd prompt

2) CD to the folder where Firefox Portable resides.

3) type: "FirefoxPortable.exe -console"

Does a "DOS Window" opens?

- Yes -> It should work [1]

- No -> It will not work, command line arguments aren't forwarded from one exe to the other.

[1] : If FirefoxPortable purges Firefox from memory the addon will not work as expected, though.

Yes, open a DOS Window and Firefox but please add all steps on your AMO addons page for Firefox portable users too.
My Firefox Portable is created with the platform used in http://portableapps.com/ and not purge nothing.
Thank you. :-)

On Firefox 7 I tried the Pref's Monitor but it takes out my personal toolbar. On disabling PM the toolbar returns ok.

@happysurf

The description in AMO should still be valid, with two exceptions:

1) Where it says "Firefox.exe" replace it with "FirefoxPortable.exe"

2) Where it says "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" replace it with the path where FirefoxPortable resides.

Hi keithy397,

Unfortunately these messages does not give me a clue on why is your toolbar disappearing, unless the "aNode is null" one does not appear when PrefMon is disabled, but i don't think so since it's related to context-menus...

However, i did a couple of changes and released a new version, which is fixing that case-sensitive issue. The changelog is as follow:

✓ Extension's name for bootstrapped/restartless add-ons are now properly retrieved.

✓ Comparison of add-on names are performed case-insensitively.

✓ Minimal improvements on the core engine (more sanity checks, etc)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/preferences-monitor/versions/

Please test this version and let me know if something changed.
