ad doubleclick.net

Post by Kaniver »

How can I disable ad doubleclick.net and all it variants from loading cookies into my browser? I can see the outgoing transmissions in my firewall. Is there any particular reason Firefox didn't include this prolific nusiance in it's standard block list? Any help is appreciated

There is no standard block list for cookies.

Get Adblock extension:
http://adblock.mozdev.org/

and you might want to get also SpywareBlaster 3.2

Firefox has no standard block list.

You can add the site to your exceptions in tools>options>privacy>cookies

Just get yourself a good hosts file and use that....

Use SpywareBlaster, no more tracking cookies from anybody.

Spyware Blaster sounds like a better deal than typing all those website addresses !

QUESTION ? > doesn't SB block "active x" ? AND since Firefox does not support active x , then why would you need SB to begin with ?

I am not a computer genius ( literate and somewhat knowledgeable ) but I am just trying to "connect the dots" !

Spywareblaster is a fine program, from what I have read, but I don't use it (PAC file).

I don't use the immunize function of Spybot S&D either, but I do run the check for problems to clean mrus and such, it never finds any malware, never has since I started using Mozilla (since Mozilla Application Suite 1.0).

Both Spybot's immunize function and Spywareblaster set kill bits in the registry of known activeX malware purveyors, that's how they prevent spyware from installing (not counting the TeaTimer feature of SSD, not sure how that works), but Spywareblaster also blocks tracking cookies. I don't know if SSD does this or not.

By "SB", do you mean SpywareBlaster? Most of the functions it performs in IE don't work in Ff and are irrelevant anyway, but it does the best job of any program available in blocking tracking cookies. It's even recommended by the authors of such great programs as Spybot S&D and AdAware.
