minimizing to tray
email clients are for realtime fast and convenient use of mail services,i don't know why thunderbird doesn't have this feature whereas all other apps such as outlook foxmail dreammail and ... have this vital feature and each time i update my client i have to deal with wrecked extensions for having this ability!
i'm really wondered while thunderbird is updated from v 3 to 8!! no one think about this feature,so what's the difference betwean tb and webmail?huh?

Re: minimizing to tray
What is it you want Thunderbird to do that it does not do now? To what extension(s) are you referring? Posting vague complaints like the above don't give us anything to go on to try to offer support.

Re: minimizing to tray
i'm soryy for not referring to the problem in main text but if you notice the subject is "minimizing to tray"
all mail client have this feature, they can be minimized to tray instead of being closed,so that they can check for new messages in specific intervals and show notification for new mails.
as you know thunderbird is opened in a window, minimized to taskbar just like any other apps or completely closed!there is no option for being open in background and keep it working in real-time!.
thanks in advance

You can use this extension -- https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/2110/
To make it compatible with Thunderbird 7 you will also want to install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunde ... -reporter/

However, it is horribly bugged (an unclosable window is sometimes opened) and doesn't have a "start minimized" option.

@ muhahaa
No bug at all for me (rated 4 stars on 5 in amo site)... and compatible TB 8.0. You may have another extension that creates some problems...

Re: minimizing to tray
I use this>>> http://rbtray.sourceforge.net/ it minimizes any open window to the tray with a right click on the minimize button, and uses very little resources. I know that's not putting it in TB, but it is non specific which to me is better.

Re: minimizing to tray
I also support this feature reguest. I think Thunderbird should have minimize to tray by default and profile password to keep unwanted email readers away.

Re: minimizing to tray
Why hasn't minimize to tray been integrated into the core yet?
Having half-baked extensions is not a solution.

Re: minimizing to tray
Thanks for that input but it's doubtful that anyone has been waiting for 6 weeks for input on that.
