Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
Thanks for letting me know. I did see references to TB 8. Even though mine says 7.0 1 when I tried to install it manually it said it couldn't be installed on TB 8.
The two main features I used are:
1. Enlarging the List of emails pane and I think also the folders pane.
2. Being able to specify what shows up in recent.
I can't remember what else I used it for but those are the two main ones that we have been affected by not having MT.
Is there somewhere I can get an older version of TB that will work with MT if there are no other solutions?
Thanks
Elayne

howdy elayneb,
[1] i suspect this is about the font size shown in the thread pane & folder pane. is that correct? if so, you may like this ...
Theme Font & Size Changer
it says it's for firefox but there is info on that page that says it will work in tbird. i haven't tried it, tho.
[2] i confess that i dunno what you are talking about. [*blush*] it's been rather a while since i used the extension and i can't recall that item.
take care,
lee

1. Again nothing is straightforward with this stuff but I did manage to get it working. It brings up an error message which I ignored. It works great. We can see again. Thanks.
2. MT sets up another option when you right click on a folder name; there is an option for Recents as well as what is already there for Favorites. You can then check off all the ones that you want. Then when you Move ==> Recents all your folders that you want all there.
Thanks again.

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
howdy elayneb,
glad you got the fonts big enuf to read again! [*grin*] i'm a six-eyes myself [bifocals] and i tweaked the fonts to be larger in other ways.
aha! locking a list of folders to the move-to/recent list. as far as i can tell, no one else has done that. so it seems you are stuck for that one. sorry!
take care,
lee

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
Hi,
I was looking for an update for this very usefull add-on too. Sadly, there will be no update. Lee_Dailey, do you know another add-on which i can use to anwser multiple mails from multiple senders in a single mail? If I remember correctly, this feature is called collected reply.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
howdy Barzi,
from what i can see, there is no other way to do it. [*sigh ...*] try doing a search of this thread for "collected" using the search box at the top of the thread. there was some discussion back around the release of tb6 but nothing since.
you MAY be able to get it to work.
some folks have found that you can get MT to work if you restrict it to ONLY what you need. the general method is this ...
- install ACR to make old extensions work in the current version of tbird
Add-on Compatibility Reporter
- restart tbird
- install MT
- restart tbird
- turn off EVERYTHING in MT
- restart tbird
- turn on only one thing you need at a time and test
- when you find something that causes problems, disable that thing & restart tbird

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
Hi Lee_Dailey!
I just upgrade to TB 8.0 and iam sad because missing the Mail Tweak!
Could you offer alternative for the "permanent pen"?
And I think there was a live log feature at the bottom of the main window, where appeared the detailed activity on the fly. This feature was from Mail Tweak too?
Thank you!
Paul

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
Ok, I installed the ACR and I think the Mail Tweak works fine!
And I found the right expression for my last post: "status message"! Cool!

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird) - mail merge fields
Hi - I am a non-tech user trying to produce a mail merge using the personalisation function.
I can merge emails using a csv fiel without any problem, but can't seem to to insert fields into the body of the email (it takes email addresses ok from the csv file though).
I am using the format %%field_name%%
Have also tried {{field_name}}
All that happens is the string is inserted as typed into the email, rathe than the value from the field.
Any help much appreciated.
Tks

@philmoore: This extension has not been supported for a long time.
I recommend Mail Merge, which I have been using for some time.

howdy pbalog,
as you have found out, there are SOME parts of MT that still work if you use the ACR extension to make it install. just be very careful to enable only what you really need. there are [apparently] some items that will conflict quite strongly with the current versions of tbird, so caution is advised.
i'm glad you got it working for what you needed! [*grin*]

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
howdy philmoore,
as Paddy Landau pointed out, MT is really very out of date. there are new extensions that do the mail merge/mass mail/personalized mail stuff. the one he referred to is apparently quite effective.

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird) - need doubleclick to open
I really need the double-click to open folders!! As it is now in TB 8, just touching any folder (i.e. if I miss pressing the plus sign, which is VERY easy to do), I lose focus and go to the wrong place.
This would make Tbird work like Eudora. Is there any way to get this single functionality which seemed to be provided by MailTweak?
Please!? Thank you!

howdy w_esco_m,
take a look at this post ...

... on the subject of _sometimes_ getting some parts of MT to work.
hope that helps,

Re: Mail Tweak (for Thunderbird)
Thank you, pardner, for the speedy reply!
However, this hack did not get the "open folder" behavior I need with TB8. I am trying so hard to get TB to work like Eudora - see
