Until a month or so ago the Firefox download window had the option, "Do this automatically for all files like this from now on" to either save or open the downloaded file. Now the option is grayed-out.
I tried all the solutions at "http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions" but the option is still grayed-out. This exists for several file types. I believe the option was accessible at Firefox 7 and became grayed-out at FF8.

Did you try Firefox Safe mode?

Re: Download window save/open option is grayed-out
I loaded Firefox in Safe mode, disabled all add-ons and reset everything to the Firefox default settings but the download window still has "Do this automatically for all files like this from now on" and its check box grayed-out.
This is not a big problem but I "Save" most all of my downloads to the desktop. The default check-box option is "Run" so I guess I'll have to get use to switching the check-marks.
