It is false (default), but yet on about:support "DirectWrite Enabled" is true.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101010 Firefox/4.0b8pre DirectWrite is automatically enabled when hardware acceleration is enabled and available.
This about:config setting allows you to enable DirectWrite without hardware acceleration (D2D,D3D or otherwise). Is there any info available on all the gfx.font_rendering settings?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries lists only a handful, but there are many more in the about:config. Groetjes, Pim

Sorry for bumping a really old thread but i newly came across this. My about:config says: gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled = false BUT, about:support reveals that it is actually enabled along with Direct2D. And i can verify that fonts are smooth and nice because of having this feature ON. Can someone explain this discreapancy? Is it just because of HW Acceleration checkbox is enabled on GUI? Best regards. DirectWrite is automatically enabled when hardware acceleration is enabled and available.
