OK ... I hate the tab look.
Though, seriously, what exactly is Australis supposed to be?
Just another reason to exercise our Stylish skills?

Re: Australis Discussion
I thought the main focus of it was a major revamp for OSX to better match Lion?
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

The Australis project is older than Lion.

Is this the most updated style for Australis for OSX?

I think that looks way better then the older design, where it has this odd looking wave image separating the caption buttons

I agree it does look good on OSX. The Linux and XP designs leave a lot to be desired. Not a fan of that tab shape. The OSX one at least "fits" to my view. Doesn't stand out.

Re: Australis Discussion
At least on XP there's a lot of wasted space, and the window controls (close-maximimze etc) look totally out of place.

exactly , the other thing is that the above image doesn't have those chrome like tabs which are pathetic and waste a lot of horizontal space too (in my POV) , Firefox 4 mockups actually suggested even shorted tab width which to me was more sleek and modern... Currently to me Firefox looks good and has its own image , Opera looks similar but now with conditional forward button we look unique , making chrome like tabs will just lead to bad image in market.

UX & User Research
[*]Australis project has feature pages, is getting staffed:
[*]Tab_Strip_Visual_Redesign
[*]Features/Desktop/Panel_Menu
[*]Toolbar_Customization
[*]Arrow_Panel_Redesign
[*]Basic research on Translation feature done, designs coming soon
[*]Metro UI (Win 8) design work in progress
[*]URL Autocomplete landed!
[*]New download manager about to land (and/or has landed), still some known issues
[*]New tab refinements continuing, landed on Nightly (preffed off)
[*]Home tab in UX branch has launch targets for Bookmarks/History/Downloads, and Apps in the future
http://people.mozilla.com/~shorlander/f ... s-tabs.png shows that we are really going for Curvy tabs , and i asked PaulRouget (twitter) and he confirmed that we really are based on their input on australis.

Some of the mockups had the menu button placed like it is in Chrome.

Re: Australis Discussion
Hmm... They should have probably stuck with square tabs. Firefox users really don't like curves in anything.
