Recreate TBE's and Tabmix's features w/other plugins, III

Just wondering if we should start a new thread, with people just listing their favorite extensions for tabbed browsing. Too bad you can't do a vote or a poll in this forum.

Look in about:config seems to me there is a pref there that's avail to turn on this function. It was turned off by the devs' prior to release off 1.0 because of sporatic behaviour on some systems, so if you enable it and have issues, then turn it back off.

I do have "browser.tabs.opentabfor.windowopen" which defauls to false, I set it to true, but it did nothing.
Then I have "browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs" which defaults to false, but enabling it and restarting Firefox does nothing even though some people say some extra options under Tools -> Options -> Advanced should appear.

Supposedly you do not need to restart after editing the about:config..
supposedly though I would venture to say that a restart is not a BAD thing, I have had luck without the need to after editing it. Athlon XP 2500+

Great. I just found another annoying behaviour regarding new windows. Whenever I doubleclick links in Trillian they open a new tab in Firefox. When I do this in mIRC they open a new window

I found that setting user_pref("advanced.system.supportDDEExec", false); in user.js makes mIRC also open new tabs instead of windows. Can anyone tell me what exactly does thta setting do?
sboulema, can you tell us exactly what extension Tabmix replaces / incorporates?

Tabmix uses code from the following extensions and combines parts of the extensions:
- Bradley Chapman's TBP lite 0.6 - Bradley Chapman's Tabbrowser Preferences 1.0.0 - Dorando + Caio Chassot's Minit (drag + indicator) 0.4 - Samir L. Boulema's enhanced version of Minit, Minit 20040920_pass3 - Stephen Clavering's Tab X 0.5 - Stephen Clavering's Flowing Tabs 0.4 - Stephen Clavering's Scrollable Tabs 0.1 - Daniel Lindkvist's Focus Last Selected Tab 0.8.1 - SHIMODA Hiroshi's Tabbrowser Extensions 1.12.2004120802 - Morac's enhanced version of Tab X 0.5 - NetOne's click2tab 0.8.0 - Aaron's Single Window 1.4

Having tab-double clicking actions for Tab Mix would be another nice addition to the todo list.

Tab Mix broke Tab Clicking Options v0.4.2. Maybe the author can integrate its functionality too, so there are no more conflits. Till then, I'm sticking to my mix of extensions.

tab mix has double clicking setting. you can double click to : - open a new tab - close the tab - reload the tab - or duplicate the tab with it's history sessions. i don't use Tab Click Option so i don't know if tab mix conflict with it. as i know, the taiwanese and chinese prefer click2tab, because that the Tab Click Option is too complex. tab mix is still a small extension ( less than 30kb!), so it's features are limited. but i hope it could satisfy the demand of most user.

I double click the Tab bar to open a new tab, and I double click a tab to close it. I ctrl+click anywhere on the tab bar or tabs to undo the last closed tab, and I shift click tabs to close them (mIRC habbit). It would be great if you could integrate a more complex mouse clicking behaviour.
<edit> I just gave up on ctrl+clicking to undo closed tabs and uninstalled Tab Clicking Options. Tab Mix works fine now, although new windows still open when I shift + click a link.

it should be opened in new window, non? you can just left click(if you force it to open in new tab by setting) or ctrl-click the link. another way: enable the Single Window Mode in the advanced setting...

at the moment I use the 4 following extensions :
TBP 1.2.2 to manage the opening of link in Tabs, the same for urlbar and searchbar Click2Tab 0.9.0 to open all kind of bookmark and history (menu, toolbar and sidebar) in tab TabClickingOption 0.4.2 to modify behaviour of [left, middle, ctrl, shift, alt]-click to open, reload, retreive tabs MiniT+ only to drag and drop tabs BUT I'll take a look at the new TabMix extension 0.1 out for only 3 days And on its Homepage you can read
