i tried the debug thing, it did nothing.

I think is better to try create new profile first (to detect possible conflicts with another extensions). And just try current release.
If all works in new clean profile, please, provide information from
Help - Troubleshooting Information (or open about:support URL)
Also you should check value of extensions.rightlinks.enabled preference in about:config page (should be true).

from ron101

You misunderstood me.
3.6 has no problem with "RightToClick" . it works great.

The only reason i reverted back to 3.5 was because i didn't like the change of placement of "Load links in background" in panel.

And the current 3.5 on Firefox website is the pre 0.3.5.3-test2 version .
that's all.

As always thank you for your great service

Oh, very good.

This is simple. And not really needed, you are right.

Right Links 0.3.6.1pre3 [18,2 KiB] (warning, this is test version!)
[*] Slightly optimized code for reading and writing preferences.
[*] Checkbox "Enabled" is displayed only when you open options menu from Add-ons Manager (in any other case just click on the menu item or button to enable/disable).
[*] Small code improvements.

All seems works fine, but I don't have time to carefully test changes.

I'm using Firefox 11.0 and I can't get it to open the tab next to the current.
It does work if i right click the link without the add-on.
Why?

You should set extensions.rightlinks.sendReferer preference to true.
(And Firefox built-in browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent should be true too of course.)

Is there any way to reverse the action of right links so that a normal right click will bring up the context menu and holding down right click opens the link?

In the next Right Links version will be added "long" left-click feature (and you will be able to disable right-clicks handling), I think, it's a good replacement for your request.

Regarding this review: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/right-links/reviews/356862/.
Thanks for your detailed reply!

I want to clarify the behaviour I'm seeing for Redirect Remover. Use cases:

(Right Links disabled)
middle click link > [new tab opens cleaned url]
right click link > open in new tab > [new tab opens cleaned url]

(Right Links enabled)
right click link > [new tab opens uncleaned url]

I'm curious as to why this happens. Is it a fault with Redirect Remover or is this a case of conflicting event listeners?

I want to clarify the behaviour I'm seeing for Redirect Remover.

As I see, Redirect Remover do following:
1) catch left mousedown for drag and drop support
2) catch left and middle-click for opening links via clicks
3) change link href while context menu is opened

And Ctrl+left-click aren't handled. :)

Right Links do some checks and
1) load javascript:... links in current tab or
2) emulate left-clicks for "fake" links like <a onclick="quoteSelection(); return false;" href="#">Quote Selected</a> in this reply form or
3) extract URI string and open it in new tab

In 3 case I can emulate middle-click, but there is no right way to make it configurable - we can only use default middle-click behavior or change built-in preferences (and restore them after small delay). I prefer use less hacks if it is possible...

But there is another (and very right!) way to control opening of any link in any case.
For example, RefControl change each request: you can click on link or type URL in address bar, but request will be changed.
And Redirector do something like Redirect Remover, but only with user-defined rules. And the main benefit: Redirector works fine with Right Links.

I think, better way to make Redirect Remover compatible with any extension - rewrite it in Redirector manner. :)

Redirect Remover looks dead, but it's very simple to support it:

Code: Select all

if("rdrb" in window)
   href = rdrb.cleanLink(href);

So I just add this code to the next version.
