When you uninstalled, did you also delete the original Firefox profile, or only uninstall the application itself?
Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
Do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

Same problem in Safe Mode.
It happens on this video for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeqUDcw8ows
Says I need a plugin, but it can't find a suitable one.
I know that video is flash, but it does it on HTML5 videos too like this one:

Actually on Firefox both are showing as HTML5 when right clicking. It was flash on my Opera.
So I also created a new profile, called it CleanSlate and same thing.

Not all YouTube videos are available in WebM format (which is what Firefox supports for HTML5 video). Whether in Firefox or Opera, I can only play the second link if the Shockwave Flash (i.e. Flash Player) plug-in is enabled.

I can play the first video in Flash or HTML5 mode. The HTML5 of the second one is not working in both Firefox and Chrome, possibly because it has ads in the video.
Make sure Flash is enabled in Firefox by checking it in the Add-ons Manager.
If you do not want to view Youtube videos in HTML5 at all, go to https://www.youtube.com/html5, join and then leave the HTML5 trial.

Re: FireFox only plays 50% of youTube videos
Both videos work for me with Adobe Flash 11.1. Neither video plays with Flash disabled and HTML5 Trial enabled: http://www.youtube.com/html5
I get the message "This video is currently unavailable".
I see the same message on the official YouTube HTML5 Demo page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3vhV13O13o
This video works fine however:
http://html-5-video.com/data/images/happyfit2.webm
So this is a YouTube problem. Not surprising, they *regularly* have systemic issues. They may also be rearranging their HTML5 files today, or maybe Google put out a faster version of WebM and they are re-encoding today. Sites sometimes have bad days... it happens.

Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.
