Disable Firefox 13 Live Bookmarks Loading "On Demand"
I am using Firefox 13 and have noticed that Live Bookmarks load "on demand".
I hate this new implementation immensely.
Is there a way to disable "on demand" and have Live Bookmarks work like previous Firefox versions?
Thanks.

Moving to Firefox Builds, where pre-release versions are discussed.

I set the following to true:
browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground
I think it does what I want.

it's not for disable "on demand" loading.

Focus behavior of new tabs from bookmarks & history
True: When you open a bookmark in a new tab then that tab will load in the background without taking focus from the current tab.
False (default): When you open a bookmark in a new tab then that tab will become the current tab.
Note: you likely want to set this to the same setting value as used in browser.tabs.loadInBackground (Bug 469456)
Note: Firefox 1.0.x had a Tabs option for "Select New Tabs from Bookmarks or History"

No, it can't be disabled. The asynchronous/on-demand implementation replaced the synchronous/timed-reload implementation.
The old synchronous API is still around, but it is planned to be removed as well, if it hasn't been already.
Reference bug (do not comment in it):

Thanks for the info. Nothing on that page you linked to though.
Also. I have "browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground" set to "true", but it doesn't behave like stated above. It opens in the current tab.
And I haven't noticed Live Bookmarks loading "on demand" since changing it to "true".

URL got screwed up in copy/paste, I guess.
Try this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries
Edit: Okay, it's the site that's being dumb. Go to that link, then replace the ":" bit with a single colon (:).

Interestingly, the link above doesn't have "browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground" listed.
But it mentions it in the meaning of "browser. tabs. loadInBackground".

You can delete your last post if no one has replied.
In fact, if I delete this post, you can delete yours as, then, I wouldn't have, in essence, replied.

Hell, Bluefang gives the answer... see many of the last comments, as: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.c ... 13588#c106
In short: for to recover the previous behaviour: no. Wait for someone uploading a extension for this to AMO.

Re: Disable Firefox 13 Live Bookmarks Loading "On Demand"
Please restore this feature! It was really useful for me, to cache live bookmarks before leaving a wifi area and being able to still read the headlines on my way.
I can't understand why Firefox keeps losing features (download status bar, direct display of all previous pages instead on long-click on the previous button, ...), relying on extensions to bring them back. I miss the 3.6 branch, which was really covering my needs, at least from a usability point of view.
