Modded Extensions for SeaMonkey

Post by Philip Chee »

The Previous thread at Post the extensions you want compatible with SeaMonkey is getting rather long in the tooth so I'm starting afresh with a new thread.

Invisible Smiley maintains this page which you might find useful:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/SeaMonkey/AddonCompat
Since it's a Wiki you can help update this page.

Lewis G Rosenthal inspired by my mods has been applying reading up my notes and doing some modding on his own. He's sent me a bunch of modded extensions which I'm slowly going through and posting to my xSidebar site including:

Select Address Book Text 1.5
Lewis and I worked on Select Address Book Text
And now we have a version that works in SeaMonkey:
Install Select Address Book Text for Seamonkey 2.0+:
select_address_book_text-1.5-mod.xpi

Flexible Identity 0.5.8 (Thunderbird)
Lewis managed to get Paul Kolomiets to add SeaMonkey compatibility to Flexible Identity so now you can get it directly from:
https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/295715/

PrintingTools 1.2 (Thunderbird)
http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmailnews.html#printingtools
Install PrintingTools for Seamonkey 2.1+ and Thunderbird 3.0+:
printingtools-1.2-mod.xpi

Tab Stats 0.0.3
http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmisc.html#tabstats
Install Tab Stats 0.0.3 for SeaMonkey 2.1+:
tabstats-0.0.3-mod.xpi

Abduction Screen Capture 3.0.14
http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmisc.html#saveasimage
Install Abduction 3.0.14 for SeaMonkey 2.0+:
abduction-3.0.14-mod.xpi

FireFTP 2.0.4
http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmisc.html#fireftp
Install FireFTP 2.0.4 for Seamonkey 2.1 and above:
fireftp-2.0.4-mod.xpi

2012-03-07 Add information box that MessageFaces is DOA and add a link to Display Contact Photo 1.2.2.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/display-contact-photo/versions/?page=1#version-1.2.2
Unfortunately newer versions have dropped SeaMonkey compatibility.

Any chance, that Clippings will be made compatible with SM 2.9.1 (or earlier for that kind)?

I would like to see FEBE added to the list of Firefox extensions that SeaMonkey can also use. For backup, where you do not want the entire profile, but an installer for all your chosen extensions, FEBE is a good app.

I know this might be almost impossible due to the interface difference, but It would be great if there are port of add-on, "thunderbird conversations" for seamonkey mail.

why ? cuz I totally hate new gmail design

Lewis G Rosenthal sent me this mod via email:

http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmailnews.html#messagearchiveoptions

Message Archive Options lets you set the format of the dates used for the year and month folders that the Archive function in Thunderbird3 creates. It exposes the (hidden) preference that lets you change the granularity of the folders to either a single folder; an archive folder and a year subfolder; or a month also.

Additionally the addon can add modifiers to the 'A' key shortcut so the key is Shift + A (or Control or Alt).

Install Message Archive Options 5.0.0 for Seamonkey 2.2 and above:
message_archive_options-5.0.0-mod.xpi

Improvements:
1. Added support for SeaMonkey web-browser
2. Added preference to either append text to file or create a new file

I've ported the latest Clippings 3.1.7 to SeaMonkey:
http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmisc.html#clippings

I've done some limited testing (and fixed a couple of bugs) but since I don't use Clippings myself someone else should do more thorough testing.

I can't figure out how to disable extension compatibility checking in SeaMonkey 2.11, can someone tell me the correct way?

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility

For SeaMonkey 2.11 it's the hidden pref extensions.checkCompatibility.2.11 (it's in about:config, it doesn't exist by default, and you can create it with "Right-click→New→Boolean" with the value false).

For all recent trunk versions (versions ending in a1) it's extensions.checkCompatibility.nightly. For aurora and earlier you must mention the major and minor version numbers (but not any third number) and the letter(s) (but not the digits) if there are any immediately after the minor version.
Best regards,
Tony
