I haven't seen it referred to as a Long Term Support release, but yes it will be 1 year, as I understand the plan.

Joe, I am not able to reproduce the 3 pane display problem. Tomorrow when I have more time, I'll try with a new profile.

Bug 783899 - Thunderbird doesn't launch maximized, not full height, empty space at bottom

Yeah, I see it now. I was using mail.tabs.drawInTitlebar", false so I couldn't reproduce it before.

In the Daily of 22nd you have now the AppButton/AppMenu. It is positioned on the right of the main toolbar and the menubar is hidden by default. Testing is appreciated and please file bugs and cc mconley/Paenglab if you find some.

If you don't like this changes you can remove the button through customize and enable the menubar again.

I thought that might have been why my menubar disappeared, but I did not see any AppButton/AppMenu. OK, there it is on the Mail Toolbar, and hard to see with my Smooth Slate persona. Very nice! =D>

Firefox ever going to catch up.

EDIT: Seems like some extensions are not appearing under Tools in the new Menu button, I'm missing Nightly Tester Tools, about:startup, and Adblock Plus.

I think putting the button on the far right is fine (it's movable and all), but if the window is not maximized, the menu becomes very clunky to use. There probably isn't much you can do about it, because I am sure that the OS does the heavy lifting on the menu positioning and opening...

The splitmenu opens in a pretty non-intuitive place (it goes to the left of the splitmenu arrow "button", rather than to the left of the split menu heading). For instance, the Message Filters menu opens to the left of the splitmenu arrow, but it should probably open to the left of Message Filters... otherwise, the submenu can block the rest of the menu. The File, Edit, etc. menus open to the left of the text, which is how it should be, it's just the splitmenus that open funny. I can do some screenshots and post them either here or in the bug (or in a bug for followup?). It just doesn't feel right, and can result in the submenus staying open when you mouse over other splitmenus.

Yes, this is the problem with positioning the AppButton on the right, but it's like shorlander designed it in his mockups. Menus want normally open on the right but with the screen end it isn't possible and they open on the most right possible. This makes them then open on not expected places I can't steer.

We should check the next trunk build very carefully. There was a huge checkin today which changed nearly every file in mailnews:
