Firefox using over 1,000,000 memory

Post by King1888 »

For the last couple of weeks or so, on starting up firefox after about 30 seconds it will go into not responding mode, viewing task manager the memory increases for a 1-2 minutes untill over 1,000,000 then drops back to around 300,000 and works again. Any ideas why this is happening? Ive included a couple of screenshots below to help explain.

How long do you have your installation? It is possible that some files in the profile contain too much garbage.
You may try e.g. the extension "Vacuum Places" to remove some of the junk.

You can go into your profile and check if some files are extremely large.
Think for yourself. Otherwise you have to believe what other people tell you.

And, if that doesn't seem to help you might want to restart Firefox in safe-mode to see what happens with that mem. issue... it may be an extension causing it.
Try running Firefox in safe-mode... do not check any boxes.

You could try clearing the cache in that event. Use menu path Tools->Options->Advanced->Network tab->click on "Clear Now" button.

thats disc cache not memory cache. the only thing that helps is to restart firefox but shouldnt have to do that every 5-10 mins
