Mamma the mother of all search engines

Post by Lost User 292608 »

I have recently picked up a problem when doing Google searches: when I click on a link it gets "Hi-jacked" by something called Mamma, The mother of all search engines, and it hangs before getting to my destination. How can I get rid of Mamma?
I am using AVG and have run a Complete Test which found nothing. HELP!

Have you done a Google yet?
You must've added another search engine at sometime or someone has.
http://www.mamma.com/
Goto the search drop down, > Manage Search Engines...
Highlight n click Remove.

I've been to > Manage Search Engines, but Mamma doesn't appear
among the SE's listed there. I have not been able to find where
she is lurking - but she continues to Hi-jack my search links.

From the website, it appears to be a program.
[q](mammadesktopsearch.exe, which is an Application, from: http: //download 3. copernic . com)[/q]
You sure no-one has installed it?
Try un-installing from Control Panel > Add & Remove..
Then do a search for the leftover bits, if any.

Control Panel > Add & Remove doesn't list any Application named Mamma or Copernic or anything else recognisable as likely to be the problem.
This problem arose when I inadvertently left my laptop online over night? Could this have been loaded by a hacker?

Not sure. How good is your firewall & AV?
The site is O.K., looks legit.
Have you tried a search for it yet?
Open explorer n check your program files as well.
You could always contact them if all else fails.

Try right clicking the page (mamma.com) then click on "View Page Info", after you click that.. Go to the "Permissions" tab. Once you're there, uncheck everything and block every single thing you see there.. So what you will uncheck is the following:

-Load Images: Block
-Open Pop-Up Windows: Block
-Set Cookies: Block
-Install Extensions or Theme: Block
-Share Location: Block
-Maintain Offline Storage: Block
-Enter Fullscreen: Block

Tell me if its still happening, and if it does I'll try searching some other way because it happens to me too and I'm trying my best to get rid of it :x until I found that out on my own :|
