Well... They just remembered after years that they have to throw the warning...

Now wait a few months to get it in the stable channel because... f*** you, that's why. Same stupid things they did with the silent updates coming after they started the rapid releasing, while clearly, they should have done it first. Anyway. Now piss off more users without reason.

Super super super easy workaround:

1. Either drag current tab off window or right-click > Move to new window.

2. Close old window.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

Yeah, no that's not super easy.
-Right Click Tab
-Move mouse through short menu
-Click

vs.

-Don't have your browser maximised or have dual monitors (possible click dragging or trip to store involved)
-Click and drag all the way across screen
-Go back to first window and click to bring to focus (or alt+tab) because the new window is covering the X
-Close the old window (hurrah no warning!)
-Click in the new window and drag it back into place or remaximize (if you're particular about your workspace)
-Resume what you were doing

and the only drawback is "Recently closed tabs" in history is grayed out, and the all the closed tabs are not under Recently Closed Windows. Remember kids, the computer is supposed to take care of meaningless repetitive tasks for you- so you can concentrate on keeping your boss from seeing all the porn you have opened in your browser BEFORE he makes it into your cube.

So, now I'm joining the unstable release crowd I guess.

Ohhh... now I get why you guys are so mad about this feature. I had wondered what it's use was.

You could also use Tab Groups and flip through them:

A new bug has been open to rename the option "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" which is confusing now.

Well that's just beginning to be a whole big landslide isn't it?

I was the one who opened the original bug complaining about this "feature" - this whole thing is a case of the dev's thinking they know what people want more then the people do.

At least they gave us an option to disable it - even if it is a hidden one.

Just did a Google search on this "new" issue that's been bugging me since it started and found this thread. It's over the top annoying for hard users. The option needs put back to stop the popup. It personally makes me feel like I'm 5 years old. And its annoying as all get out.

Honestly more and more of Firefox's development is about adding needless bells and whistles to the core feature set of the program that does not universally fulfill the needs of all users. This was one of the primary reasons Firefox was a huge success. It allowed the user to chose what features they wanted and how they preferred these features to be implemented. Now we're getting any number of "must have" features added into the program's core functionality that people either don't use, dis-like the implementation, or presents security issues that are inadequately considered.

We won't even get into the options page vs about:config situation with these two items being more and more out of sync with one another.

Honestly, IMO, Firefox is going to make one too many changes and several thousands of users are going to say "That's it!" and leave en mass. I know I'm getting closer and closer to that point. I love this new addition, the new pop-ups for downloading/passwords (NOT!), the forthcoming inclusion of Social Networking (NOT!), the... hmm, I'm ranting.

The point is, the program core should have a limited number of features and capabilities that meet the requirements of 85% or more of the user base. Everything else should be optional based on the user's needs. Or are too many of the user's too inept to find an extension to do whatever they need? Because, by shoving all of this trash down our throats, that is what Firefox is implying about their users.
