I do know that they are planning on locking the Back/Forward/urlbar/Stop/Reload into one fixed element. And judging by missing elements in the mockups I'm willing to wager that they will remove customization from toolbars other than Nav-bar and probably also remove the ability to create custom toolbars as well. These are BTW, extremely simple things to remove, every customizable toolbar carries the attribute:

toolbar[customizable="true"]

Remove that, and poof! customization disabled. All it takes to remove custom toolbars is simply don't include the button Add New Toolbar. Easy as pie. Looks like they already plan to move the Find bar to the top. And with those gone, and this new menu/addons button available, why would they need the rebranded statusbar/add-ons toolbar? Before you know it, the final nails in the coffin for customization will be simple, effortless patches.

I guess I should actually be happy for all the "non-profit, lack of resources, voluntary development etc.", considering all the slow development we complain about is the only thing that has kept Firefox Firefox.If Mozilla were more efficient, we'd already have a complete Chrome wannabe copy-cat in our hands.

Well, that is going to be a mess to clean up. The new menu is there and the new customization is sort-of mocked up, but you can't move things around yet.

The menu has issues dismissing. Other than that, looking good so far for a prototype.

Thanks for the video, looks pretty neat. Is it supposed to replace the add-on bar?
I hope that they'll implement a "small icons mode" so you put more stuff in there.

They're moving the addons bar to the navigation bar.

But it really replaces the customization window. The prototype is bare bones. None of the other stuff like buttons and modes are in. You can't even drag-n-drop buttons yet.

It replaces:

addons bar
customization window
the entire customization scheme which appears to be going out with the bath water.

Hope this new will also replace the Nightly/Aurora/UX/Firefox button on the left (Menu button), because actual button (blue or orange) doesnt look with curved tabs so good.

It doesn't contain any menu items, just the unused toolbar buttons.

Yeah, but in the demo (first page) is also option "preferences", so maybe options will be part of this "new menu".

I'm not sure what you are looking at but I don't see it. Have you looked at the Try Build? it's basically identical to the first mockup posted which doesn't have any menu features what-so-ever.

Oh I see what you mean, they've got a "Preferences" button in there. That would be a part of a different change. If they are working on that it would probably even be in a totally different try build.
