I understand user experiences will vary ... still, everything's moving to 64bit (I can say that without getting in trouble, I think, since this is a Winx64Fx thread). I'd hate to see Mozilla left behind when there is an active community of testers willing to run the gamut of checking out a Winx64Fx.

So will this be locked, or can we have a "64bit nightly" sticky?

my horse-drawn 32bit carriage is faster than your new fangled gasoline powered 64 bit buggy, mr. ford. after all you are only allowed to go 2 mph and must have a man with a red flag walk in front of you. no need for that expensive machinery. what we have is good enough for me and any right thinking horse lover. it'll never catch on. no one will buy a buggy whip for that iron beast, so why bother making auto-mobiles for the masses, mr. ford. buggy whips will be around forever, mark my words.

No, its more like this:

Why are you building houses much bigger then necessary for a family of 4? Sure it means you can entertain a ton of guests (use more then 1000 tabs etc), but it uses much much more wood and materials (higher memory usage on smaller workloads), isn't heated as effectively and the power bill is enormous (less optimized at the moment) and the cat gets lost (32bit users - lots of corporates, old PC's).

But hey, the more rooms the merrier right?

some people live in bigger houses with lots of rooms, with lots of heating and lighting, servants and guards, and big yards for the dressage horses and polo ponies. because they can.

like al gore's house. :) or vladimir putin's or barrack obama's. my favourite is queen elizabeth II's little get-away in windsor. i'm fond of castles.

Most real-world analogies don't work with software. In the first place, there's no proof except for the 4GB limit about 64bit Fx builds being superior to 32bit ones so analogies comparing dwelling size or automobile speed with "bitness" are invalid. Bickering in this thread will only result in it being locked.

I guess the optimized browser will suffer an unforeseen... deoptimization.

In the hopes of getting this thread back on track...

Does anyone have a clear picture on what exactly broke the updates for Nightly 64-bit back on 2013-01-09?

Waterfox would be OK if it did not take up you Firefox profile. Palemoon 64 Bit doesn't do that unless you download a migration tool.
