Hmm :)

They must have forgot to include something in 1.0.1. ;)

...that or they just recognize the fact that 1.1 isn't coming until June/July and they'll likely want another security-related maintenance release in the mean time...

I would have to agree with Ryan, its a 'just-in-case' thing.

I am trying to search for an 'official response' from Mozilla.org on this, but thus far, no success...

After Firefox 1.0 was released further aviary builds were automatically generated for a few days even though no further work was done on the branch at that time. The same is probably happening again.

Ben has since reverted the version to 1.0.1 on the Aviary branch :-)

See bug 280084. Maybe 1.0.2 is 1.0.1 + this fix.

Version was pushed up to 1.0.2, fix for bug 280084 committed, then Ben reverted the version number back to 1.0.1. Presumably new 1.0.1 builds will have the fix in.

See what's been checked in over the last week here.

This is what it says and it seems to be working for me.

I see nothing wrong with releasing v1.0.2 to fix one or two bugs. Thats what minor versions are for.

Absolutely agree, as new users or members that haven't followed this entire scenario will be the individuals affected, and this would just lead to more 'mass confusion/frustration' for those who are affected...

If you are experiencing a crash when entering text into the address bar, you can correct the problem by removing the autocomplete.xpt file from your Firefox components directory, for example C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components. To avoid this crash, do not install a new installer build on top of an older zipped build.

This problem seems to only be impacting zipped build users of previous releases installing installer builds of 1.0.1. If you install a zipped 1.0.1 on top of an earlier zipped build, things seem to be working, and if you install an installer build over a previous installer build then things seem to also work.

If you're experience doesn't fit this, and you're crashing with entering text in the address field (or possibly the search field and forms on web pages) please let me know. Thanks.

No one in this thread did. :)

Yes, I heard about this bug after I had started this thread so it makes sense to catch that one. Would otherwise have made 1.0.1 a very problematic build to use for many.
