Firefox opens but does nothing else and gives DONE message
Firefox 1.0.1
Recently Firefox has started to not open pages. Here is what it does
I click on Firefox on the desktop.
The program opens, but no page loads.
The word DONE appears at the bottom right
I can't find anything in the help folders, and I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox (I think that I used to have 1.0 and then installed 1.0.1, but I have the same problem on both).
NEED HELP!
Thanks!

I've have similar problem since I installed 1.0.1, except I get an alert box which says "the connection was refused when attempting to contact [page url]."
I uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple times, cleared the cache, etc -- nothing. Only thing I haven't tried is creating a tottaly new profile. All firewalls and stuff are off, too. Mozilla, IE, Opera, Netscape, etc work fine.

I'm having a very similar problem. In the lower lefthand corner it says "Looking up www.nytimes.com..." but the page never loads. The same is true for any page I try to load. IE loads these pages with no problem.
Firefox stopped loading pages when I downloaded version 1.0.1. I did not uninstall version 1.0 before installing version 1.0.1 but I have since uninstalled both versions and then reinstalled version 1.0.1. I have also cleared my cache and I made sure that Norton and the Windows firewall are not blocking firefox. Any suggestions?

First, are you sure you did a clean install? See: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=158083
I had a similar problem (though I hadn't downloaded 1.0.1),had to create a new profile to fix it.Try to repair the old profile, but no go. You could try Safe mode (which disables extensions and themes) or just create a second profile, to see if the problem's there. If it works with a clean profile, could be a corrupt profile,or a theme or extension problem. Try deleting extensions and themes one by one to identify a culprit.See this link: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder
