You did disable hardware acceleration, right?

Yes.

try clearing cache if it exceeds 250MB . It is sure fire way of preventing freezing in SeaMonkey. This is the approach i devised after years of watching videos on the net. Over 300+ MB in cache will freeze SM for sure. I don't know as to why this happens.

I felt compelled to create an account and document my issues after reading this post.

I too am experiencing freezing with seamonkey 2.19, it is full on freezing and will not produce a crash dump report. I have to physically turn off the pc and restart it. Its been happening to me for a few weeks and can be expected to happen anytime seamonkey is opened at any length of time ranging from just after launching and browsing a website, to hours later.

Sometimes it will not fully crash and It will recover after 30-60 seconds, other times it completely locks up.

I use noscript, adblock+, and ghostery always. Whilst trying to troubleshoot the issue I disabled ALL addons which after aforementioned consisted of debugger and internet download manager and flash.

I couldn't isolate the source of the problem because there was no crash output, so I stopped using seamonkey altogether and went to chrome for a week without any issues, at which point I found this thread. I then launched seamonkey, disabled hardware acceleration, and continued my browsing routine until again it froze up within minutes. Then I quickly switched to Chrome and signed up here after a quick search to provide my findings. With no data output I'm really unable to sort out this problem myself. I can only say that it must be something that was changed within the last two updates to Seamonkey since prior to that It ran flawlessly for almost a year now.

I can't use it at all now. Its ruining my life. Chrome has ghetto noscript and it sucks. Please help us.

What plugins do you have?
Have you tried disabling them (except perhaps for Flash)?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Run a CHKDSK & or drive manufacturers diagnostic on your HDD.

As a test, create a new, clean Profile, install your extensions & plugins.
Does that Profile exhibit the same problem?

If yes, then as a test, copy the SeaMonkey instalDir into a new directory.
If you then start seamonkey.exe from within that new directory, opening that new Profile, does the problem still persist?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Got one freeze this morning after an hour from boot up.

Run a CHKDSK & or drive manufacturers diagnostic on your HDD.

Done!

NOTE: You can't recreate the FREEZE nor can the user trigger them at will. The FREEZE is out of the blue. I haven't seen this behavior since the old days when the IP or PC (http://semipublic.comp-arch.net/wiki/In ... ointer_(IP)_versus_program_counter_(PC)) use to get lost, freezing the computer. I would have thought that SeaMonkey was just one unique, self-contained and isolated Object but the FREEZE is not stating that. Even the mouse doesn't scape the FREEZE.

NOTE_2: Firefox does the FREEZE too. I haven't seen it in CHROME yet.

I am having the same problem. SeaMonkey 2.19 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Sometimes SeaMonkey will just stall for about 5-10 seconds and the computer will not respond. This is different from previous versions where I sometimes got temporary hangs when certain web pages were loading. But that wouldn't lock up the whole computer, only SeaMonkey. Now the whole computer stalls and if it lasts for more then the 10 seconds I know it is permanently locked because I've left it on overnight and still does not respond. Same as other posters, complete lock of mouse and ctrl-alt-del so no crash dumps or error reports. I'd really like to know how to diagnose this. I was thinking of maybe running something like Process Monitor continuously until it happens then look at the last entry. But the problem is it can be days in between lock ups for me and I doubt my computer would even have enough memory to hold that continuous stream of data.

I have a feeling my problem might have something to do with my NVIDIA display driver because that crashes occasionally with the screen going blank for a couple seconds then a message 'the display driver has crashed then recovered' or some such thing. This is the latest driver update, which may be the problem to begin with because it didn't used to happen before. But I don't really have any evidence to show a link between the SeaMonkey problem and my video driver.

I'd really like to know if anyone can think of an approach to diagnose this problem, when nothing on the computer responds at all.
