Phoenix 0.5 and 12-07 nightly

Post by PartzMan »

Has anyone else noticed this in the About dialogue?

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021207 Phoenix/0.5

Looks like the first nightly based on Naples :D

As far as I can tell, works GREAT!!!!

Much faster than 0.4

What are you so excited about? Yes, Blake has <a href="http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsview2.cgi?diff_mode=context&whitespace_mode=show&subdir=mozilla/toolkit/locale&command=DIFF_FRAMESET&file=brand.dtd&rev1=1.8&rev2=1.9&root=/cvsroot">updated the version number</a>, but that doesn't mean 0.5 is officially released. For more information, read the <a href="http://texturizer.net/phoenix/faq.html#1.6">FAQ</a>.

If you've been using nightly builds before, you should have noticed the speed improvements already.

And you really think that a version number change is exciting enough to start a new thread about it? ;)

That's funny since no performance related checkins have been made between those two dates. What exactly is faster?

This isn't quite 0.5. I still have to fix View -> Character Coding, and we need to do extensive testing to make sure nothing big broke on the trunk. Should come out today, though.

It's not even the first nightly release though, every release since 0.4 has been "based on" 0.5.

I'm so tired of seeing threads like this
"ooo a new nightly"
"ooo it's faster than the one from a month ago"
"ooo they changed a word"

Just my 2 cents from my very own piggybank.

*takes 2 cents and adds them to alan's pile.*

the reason we all love this browser is it will keep getting faster, there are nightlies very frequently, and frankly it's the best browser out there, imnsho. :-P maybe keep all these (very good) compliments under 1 thread?

I don't see what all the ruckus is about.

So a guy is overenthusiastic about the nightly builds.

Is that a good reason to flame him?

I'm glad to see some enthusiasm of any kind.
