Delicious Bookmarks Add-on Gone
Delicious Bookmarks Add-on Removed
Delicious Bookmarks addon is gone. Luckily after some searching I found I could restore it by copying my Profile from another computer that still had it.
I just did a clean install on my laptop and could not get my loved Delicious Bookmarks back. Firefox 27 has this dumb sidebar for Delicious that just plain sucks! I wanted my Delicious Bookmarks Toolbar instead, but AVOS pulled the Addon off of the Mozilla site...
Screw them. I used a program: "MozBackup-1.5.2-beta1-EN" to clone all my Firefox "profile" info from another computer and import it into the new Firefox install on my laptop.
I'm sure I am not the only Delicious Bookmark user pissed about the Addon's demise.
I not only cloned the profile from the other computer, but I also installed the same Firefox version: 20.01 from the other computer.
The profile File name is: "Firefox 20.0.1 (en-US) - 2014-03-03.pcv" it is found in: "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles" . The file is 28.071MB in size.
Hopefully, someone can put a "profile" file online, so that others can restore their Delicious Bookmarks. The Delicious Sidebar is much less desirable.

Why on Earth would you go back to such an old version that's full of security holes?

I take it you mean the extension file. The profile folder contains personal data like bookmarks, history, passwords and cookies.
What is the extension version listed in the Add-ons Manager? It may be available from a third-party site. The version on Softpedia.com is dated September 3rd, 2010, which I'm guessing isn't the latest.
If all else fails, it may be possible to convert their Chrome extension into a Firefox version. Whether it actually works or not is another matter.

Re: Delicious Bookmarks Add-on Gone
I just installed Firefox 24.3.0 (ESR). I tried Firefox 27 first, but my Download Statusbar was not compatible with it.
I build high-end computers, but I know nothing about programming, etc. Mozilla could make Firefox much more user friendly if they made restoring and transferring a user's customized- with Add-ons and Extensions- Firefox experience easier. the ONLY reason I use Firefox is because it is so customizable.
I want the same Firefox experience on all my PCs; however, it was not at all easy to figure out how to make it happen. Moreover, if I did not have another system with Firefox customized the way I like it still intact, I might ultimately be screwed. Mozilla, at times, seems to be unaware that many of the masses use Firefox uniquely because of the ability to make it- Firefox- ones' own.
I'm all for increased security, and I realize Firefox is perpetually under attack due to its open source nature. However, if the constantly evolving browser can't offer the same stable customized and personalized experience for its users, what's the point of staying with it?
Unfortunately, others will be frustrated by the same problems with the Delicious Bookmarks that I encountered.

It is if you use the proper version. The Extension version you had was likely only compatible with the old download manager that was in use up til Firefox 19.0 as the new download manager has been the default ever since Firefox 20.0 unless you enable a certain temporary preference for to enable the old manager that could be used up till Firefox 25.0 as the old manager backend was removed as of Firefox 26.0

Are they the same? "Download statusbar" vs. "Download status bar"?
Anyway, I'm just so happy to have my "Delicious Bookmarks" Toolbar working. It even works with Firefox 27. I just don't understand why it is so difficult to maintain ones' Firefox Experience across subsequent versions of the browser.

What was the point of this thread? You posted in Firefox Support, but you're not asking for help. If you want to send your comments to Mozilla, open the Help menu — either from the orange Firefox button or the menu bar — and choose Submit Feedback.
Download Statusbar is an abandoned add-on, last updated October 28, 2011. Download Status Bar is an alternative that is compatible with the latest version of Firefox. Have a look at the screenshots and description for details.
Firefox Sync is supposed to do that.

You opened this One:
Why can't any Firefox user maintain the same Firefox Experience across all their PCs?

Then you are quite obviously barking up entirely the wrong tree. Because not only are we not Mozilla:
http://www.mozillazine.org/about/
But even if we were Mozilla, they have absolutely nothing to do with Delicious. If the Delicious Addon developers decided to stop supporting their old extension, then they are the ones who you should be directing your ire towards, not to some users who are only trying to help. Honestly, considering how much upheaval that service has been through over the last few years I'm surprised to learn that anyone is still even using it, it seems like it's just a matter of time before it's shuttered and closed down.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

Look if it involves Firefox; it belongs here. Delicious Bookmarks has been an integral part of my Firefox experience for years. If anyone has creative alternatives, please speak up. However, there is no other place to voice an opinion about the demise- and a fix- for Delicious Bookmarks.

Hopefully a moderator will come along and make that decision soon enough.

Yeah, you are totally 100% right. I mean except if you count these... which it took me all of 5 minutes to find:

This is a Firefox support forum, used for help in solving Firefox problems. Your issue has very little, if not nothing to do with Firefox itself. In your above quote, you stated there is not other place to voice an opinion...etc for Delicious Bookmarks. That isn't true since patrickjdempsey provided links for you, and even more to the point, this forum is not for support of that product. Just because it involves Firefox via an extension, it doesn't mean it belongs here.

Re: Delicious Bookmarks Add-on Gone
Extension files as requested.
Should work on all Firefox versions. It is not safe of course, but I understand that people would risk it like me. I am also one that knows the power of this super addon for which I searched alternatives for (for hours) and not one addon comes even close to what this jewel can do!
Also, there is a annoying "bug" in it since FF 30. When you click with mouse on any of the suggestions of the location bar, it does not do what expected. (Any suggestions! Not only delicious ones. )
Lastly, I dunno if the addon creates this itself, but you need a "ybookmarks.sqlite" database-file in your profile folder.

I removed your link to the XPI uploaded to dropbox. We do not allow links to not vetted extensions here. If you want to offer your fix and support it, rename the extension and uploaded to Addons.mozilla.org (the Add-on site).
