forefpx metro mode

Post by Zexon83 »

I have been an avid user of the metro mode of nightly then aurora on my tablet. I was surprised today when I did my updates (I have been putting them off for a while) today that the option for metro was no longer there. After fighting with it I found out that it has been discontinued. While I understand the undertaking was a big one that you no longer wish to continue, I'm very much hoping that someone could send me the old file of the aurora version that still has metro support. My tablet doesn't work very well with the desktop version. I understand that using an outdated version is not a good thing security wise but if it means keeping metro mode on my tablet I believe its worth it. If anyone could provide an old build installer and I just won't do updates on it. Thank you for reading.

You really think it's worth putting all your personal data at risk for the sake of convenience? Well, have it your way.

Have you tried simply downgrading to the current beta?

I don't know when metro mode went away exactly. The blog post is dated March 14th, so I'd guess you're looking for a build no older than that.

The last nightly with metro was probably 03-24, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=981166#c95
gone

FYI, we are not Mozilla: http://www.mozillazine.org/about/

And beginning about a year ago, Mozilla decided it's primary focus was going to shift from the desktop experience to the mobile experience. They have been shutting down many projects in an effort to move more developers over to work on Firefox OS. I'm not sure why they created a Metro built only to shut it down, but that is unfortunately been fairly typical of the way Mozilla does things over the last few years.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.
