building summary file for inbox

Post by hannie »

Suddenly TB is "building summary file for inbox" every time I want to get my mail. What can I do to prevent this? I can only use webmail now. Win98SE, TB 1.0.2, NAV, ZoneAlarmPro.
TIA,

Bert, I think you found the culprit! All 3 off us (Hannie, Phil, Bert) report the same problem after the daylight-saving time started on March 27. We cannot work with TB at the moment, because the get messages button is also not working. Does one of the gurus here have a solution?

Does someone has a solution?

Same experience here. The suite on the same machine works quickly downloading mail. TB also freezes when deleting multiple messages, sometimes when deleting only one.

Compacting folders, and possibly deleting corrupted .msf files might help:

I'm having the same problem, but mine started well before 27 march. Compacted folders, still no help. Going hunting for msf files.

How do you know which .msf files are corrupted? My search turned up 163 files with that extension. Should all be deleted?

I had 4 e-mail accounts running on Tbird and only one was doing weird and every mail account has its own directory so remove the one on that directory. When you start Tbird and compact the folders the files you removed will be recreated.

I had the same problem (on Windows Me) and deleting all .msf files in the profiles folder did solve the problem:

Everlasting indexing

Post by Kazma »

The problem seems to be WIN9x/ME and daylight saving specific.

* Exit TB
* Turn off "automatic daylight saving adjustment"
* Start TB
* Reindex (compress, whatever..) folders
* Exit TB
* Turn on "automatic daylight saving adjustment" again if you like

This has helped here.
