xpcom:event receiver

Post by fortjrs »

When I try and shutdown (Windowns 98), xpcom:event receiver appears on my desktop and I cannot shutdown even when asking for the program to end. Any knowledge of this?

I (and others) have been having the same problem.
After I got rid of my extensions it seemed to fix it.

It seems nobody else has any suggestions??

I am running XPpro, SP2.
I deleted my extensions and that seemed to fix it.
Then I re-installed them and it seems to be OK.

This forum isn't very helpful.
My last post about this subject was a month ago, I also started my own thread and did not get one single reply.

The magic fix for everything seems to be to create a new profile.

Good luck Sharebird

How do I delete my extensions?
What will I lose by deleting them?

Tools/extensions
Just have a look at your options on the thing at the top
File,Edit>View etc
and use your common sense
You might lose the XP.com trouble
Any extensions you delete can be replaced

You have to uninstall them... "Tools">"Extensions". I think you can uninstall each one until you find the bad one... At first uninstall tab related extensions.

The only items I can see hanging from the Tools Menu are:
- Search the web
- Translate page
- Cookie Manager
- Image Manager
- Popup Manager
- Form Manager
- Pasword Manager
- Download Manager
- Web Development
- Swith Profile

Firefox forums, Mozilla forums, Wilder Security forums, McAfee forums.....nobody seems to have the answer to the xpcom:event receiver problem. Different solutions for different people, like XP privacy settings, AV settings, extension/s deletion, etc., etc., etc..........
