Popped up this morning: Bug 1016027 - Kill the hamburger button.
Apparently it's not as useful as initially thought after all?

^ I'd be surprised if that one didn't get closed WONTFIX. I remember some of the devs pushing to get it in the UI.

On another note: I recieved a forced security update yesterday. I'm assumimg it was forced because I have "never check for updates" selected. I prefer to update manually in order to make back-ups before the update.

Has Mozilla changed policy on updates? I saw a thread in Google-groups related to updating but it was stated that Mozilla would honor the user's pref settings and not force updating.

That's surprising. In general, it is my understanding too that if you have app.update.auto;false and/or app.update.enabled;false set there shouldn't be any non-solicited update offers or updates whatsoever. :-k

Both prefs are set to false.

What's also odd is that when I click on "Details" in the Update History dialog it takes me to a Thunderbird Release notes page that only shows v3.1.10 as the latest release...http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/releases/

I'm using 32.0a1. I last build I had was from 5-22-14 or 5-23-14.

Oh, ok. I thought that you were talking about an older release build updating itself.

Here I was hoping Thunderbird would follow Firefox, and make the items in the Menu, icons I could place on my Mail toolbar for quicker access. :(

The problem with the icon version is that you'd likely have to reduce the number of functions offered in the hamburger, which Firefox did on purpose anyway given that they had removal of features in mind anyway. Blake suggested in the bug report to make the "old" menus easier accessible, which certainly would help already to get to the functions not covered in the hamburger, but wasn't specific how he'd like to see this accomplished.

I see some strange things in TB 31 related to Add-Ons. In the Add-Ons tab, all my installed Add-Ons are flagged with "(inactive)". But this is not true, they are working nicely. And if I hit any button (Activate, Debugging...), nothing happens. If I click on "More", than this Add-On disappears and I need to restart TB to see it again.
Nothing in the error console. Anybody else seeing this???
