Re: Knowledge Base
I request a knowledge base account. I would like to edit the DOM Inspector article at
http://kb.mozillazine.org/DOM_Inspector ... Extensions
Specifically, I would add to the Related Extensions section a short mention of the Element Capture extension and include this link for more information:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... ObTuMJUBls
An alternative would be for the moderator or other existing editor to make the edit.
By the way, DOMi appears to be very much alive. There has been a recent discussion regarding development of a new version at
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798174

Re: Knowledge Base
I know EITxolo.
I just tried a few & they all timed out, about 10 mins ago, but now, all seems well again.
I had emailed Jason though.
[edit]
Nope, Not all well, as it appears to affect certain pages. Weird.

Update 'Privacy Basics'
Request for someone to edit this page:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Privacy_basic ... derbird%29
The information on the page is good if you are using a version prior to Thunderbird version 31.0.
However, version 31.0 onwards has a change in where you see, modify addresses that you previously allowed to remote content. This is no longer done via the 'Address Book.
For Thunderbird 31.0 and later
To make any modifications to the list of email addresses / contacts previously selected to allow showing of remote content or to Allow or Block images and other remote content from specific websites:
Tools > Options > Privacy
or
Menu Icon > Options > Options > Privacy
under heading 'Mail Content', click on the 'Exceptions' button.

The information on the page is good if you are using a version prior to Thunderbird version 31.0.
You can also change this option for an address book entry by going into the address book, looking at the properties for an entry, and selecting/deselecting the "Allow remote content" checkbox. Unfortunately, you can only do this for one address book entry at a time.

Update 'Reply Header Settings'
Could someone update this page:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Reply_header_settings
I would suggest not removing what is already written as it would still apply to those using version prior to version 31.0.
But, please add additional information for those who use 31.0 and later.
As of version 31.0:
these are unchanged:
mailnews.reply_header_locale
mailnews.reply_header_type
mailnews.reply_header_originalmessage
No longer used:
%s wrote replaced with author's name or e-mail address wrote
%s replaced the date and time.
Elements used:
#1 = Author
#2 = Date
#3 = Time
Those who selected: mailnews.reply_header_type 1
mailnews.reply_header_authorwrote %s wrote
has been replaced by:
mailnews.reply_header_authorwrotesingle; #1 wrote:
Those who selected: mailnews.reply_header_type 2
mailnews.reply_header_ondate; On %s
has been replaced with:
mailnews.reply_header_ondateauthorwrote; On #2 #3, #1 wrote:
Those who selected: mailnews.reply_header_type 3
will now use:
mailnews.reply_header_authorwroteondate;#1 wrote on #2 #3:

Good day. I am not sure if this is the correct place for this issue. If not, please let me know.

Article needs updating About:config
http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
At the bottom of this article is;
http://preferential.mozdev.org/installation.html
Preferential extension — An extension similar to about:config with extra features, such as documentation for some preferences.
I checked it out and tried to install it. But got a not compatible message. I poked around the site page, and it looks like nothing changed in years.
I did send a message to the author of the program. Waiting to here back.
Note! As I was typing this, I got a message about my e-mail;

Re: Knowledge Base
Which isn't something I could tell. @example.com, net, org. edu. or anything else is a test and example domain which leads to nowhere. Use that instead.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Example.com . It is a very useful domain

I removed the Preferential extension link from the "External links" section of http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config on September 23, 2014 based on Fred's post at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forum ... ors/710706

Re: Knowledge Base
I'd like to edit http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_fro ... hunderbird
I did a large import back in 2012 (when I requested access to the Wiki via e-mail to mozillaZineKB at gmail dot com).
I would like to add this text:
===
In 2012 the author of this note attempted to import about 2 GB worth of Eudora e-mail using the then current Thunderbird 11. The import hung on a specific mailbox, but could be cancelled leading to a crash of Thunderbird. In any case, the import was of poor quality as sent messages were imported as unread and didn't have correct dates, since Eudora doesn't store the dates. A much better result was obtained using "Eudora Rescue" (using the -z option) and then importing with Thunderbird 1.5, which was current in 2006, so the same vintage as "Eudora Rescue". Modern versions of Thunderbird will fail to import the data pre-processed with "Eudora Recue".
===
I think there is little chance that Mozilla will ever improve the Eudora import, so pre-processing the mail with "Eudora Rescue" and then using a very old version of Thunderbird is still the best way.
I'm not active on the forum, but I am on Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/user_profi ... 0jorgk.com
