Re: [Ext] Gmail Manager 0.6.4.1 - Manage multiple Gmail acco
I'm not an extension developer or expert by any means, but I tried editing the install.rdf file within the .xpi file to a higher max version value and it installs OK once re-zipped and renamed *but* does not retain any config info at all. Anyone have any clues as to what I'm missing please?
Thanks,
John

Hi.
Modifying the install.rdf file, not resolves the problems.
This fantastic addon, needs to be modified in more positions.
cache2 backend is to use, since Firefox 32 it is necessary to use another
place to store the Data, in example, for the account information, Button position and so on.
If nobody takes a look on this, Gmail Manager is dead.
Cheers

Firefox already starts offering an update to v32 here,
For the meantime I postpone the update, hoping someone could help us save this wonderful plugin.

This indeed is really sad. My firefox without gmail manager is not the same.
Hopefully, I trust a brillant personn will come up for a fix at some point. What would be a decent alternative meanwhile if you don't need multi-account support?

Gmail Watcher is what I am using for now. I am using it to handle my two major gmail accounts, not sure if it will handle more. Sure miss gmail manager!!

Well,
Since my last post here I accidentally upgraded to Firefox v32, only to find out what another user described (all accounts not showing up anymore on Gmail Manager).
I've now got X-Notifier installed and it seems to work great:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... xnotifier/
I've noticed it missing Account-specific pop-up notifications (it currently seems to support just global pop-up notifications).
Other than that - seems to work great.

Other addons - Gmail Notifier and Gmail panel
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... startless/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/gmail-panel/
works, but not so comfortable as Gmail Manager - they don't have a pop-up window with a short text of the message

I have tried X-Notifier, and it is GREAT!! This is the best one since Gmail Manager! Does just about everything Gmail Manager did PLUS it handles hotmail/outlook and Yahoo accounts too!!
Plus it works with the latest Firefox versions!

My vote is for X-Notifier , it's a great substitute for GM (RIP).

Thanks and I agree. Just installed it and playing with it now. Seems like a good replacement.
But I am unable to find a privacy policy in regards to what information is collected, stored and what info is shared with 3rd parties etc. I checked the addon page, the devs homepage, and even went under 'help' via the extension itself. I am hoping I just missed it. Does anyone know where this info is? Thanks in advance

Re: [Ext] Gmail Manager 0.6.4.1 - Manage multiple Gmail acco
Fixed it by changing the following
components/gmParser.js
_xpath: function(aNode, aExpression, aType)
{
var results = null;
try {
// Evaluate the XPath expression
//var xpathEvaluator = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/dom/xpath-evaluator;1"].createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsIDOMXPathEvaluator);
//results = xpathEvaluator.evaluate(aExpression, aNode, null, aType, null);
var aDoc = aNode.ownerDocument ? aNode.ownerDocument : aNode;
results = aDoc.evaluate(aExpression, aNode, null, aType, null);
} catch(e) {}
return results;
},
commented out the two existing lines and added ownerDocument code. If you had tried to mess with adding accounts back in, then look in your (profile directory)/gmanager/prefs.bak and hopefully it still has your old settings, if you only tried to add accounts back in once.
To edit the extension:
Go to your Firefox profile directory
Go to the extensions directory
Gmail Manager is gmail-manager-ng@nedwidek.github.com.xpi
(if it is an xpi, then you need to copy it, rename to zip, unpack, do the change, rezip, rename; if it is a directory, you can just do the changes directly)
If you trust me making the changes, I have it up on:
http://odi.duckdns.org/gmail-manager-fix-ff32.xpi
