Import mailboxes from Mac to T-Bird

After a weeks-long struggle with Apple Mail, I've decided to switch back to Thunderbird, which I used exclusively back in my Windows days. I'm having trouble importing my Mail mailboxes from Apple Mail into Thunderbird. I found the Import function in the Tools menu and it seemed to go through the steps logically, but it tells me that "no mailbox folders were found", or words to that effect. Then I tried exporting the mailboxes from Mail to the desktop, thinking it might find them there. No luck. What am I missing?

I don't understand why something so basic hasn't been fixed. If you can't easily get any of those workaround to work I suggest you use a IMAP account as a intermediary to transfer your mail per http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_and ... _exporting . If you use a Gmail IMAP account to do that be aware that Gmail imposes a bandwidth limit. If you're not going to keep that IMAP account afterwards a Yahoo IMAP account might be a better choice.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_from_Mail.app documents the old way to import mail before support was added to the import wizard.
