out going emails not working

I could not transfer my old settings to the new install.

I can get my emails no sweat and my firewall anti-virus is set up properly.

But when I try to send any emails it just keeps asking for my password and failing over and over.

Got fed up and am now using another browser email and it is working just fine..............

Something appears to be not right with the seamonkey email system now?

Would prefer to keep using what I have been using but................ if it's gonna be this much trouble..........

but as I said used to work fine before I had to do a new install of seamonkey.

Now without the old to import it simply refuses to work.

Last time I tried it says log in failed........... but I can log into the server, have to to get my emails............... is a pop3 and using Eset full............ and again, I can use other browser/email progs no problem........

just have this issue with seamonkey.......... so far everything else I have tried no problem............

even tried deleting the email account and closing and then opening later and starting all over.............. nope same issue.......... although once or twice I get a timed out message...........

and Eset has been told to leave seamonkey alone............. to allow it........... checked to be sure............ so unless there is a exe I'm missing it should ALLOW seamonkey?

here is the message.......... "Login to server mail.outdrs.net failed." and I get the retry enter new password cancel options.... enter new password never works

just tried again and got.....................


"Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server mail.outdrs.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."

talked to him and my setting are correct?

Just had a thought............. is the send email part trying to log onto my email account AFTER I have already logged onto that account?

Cause if it is it will fail every time.

Someone is already using the account............... ME!

When I open it up it downloads my emails and the account remains in use until I close seamonkey email portion.

And the provider allows only ONE access to the account.............

this brings up a question.

IF I am already accessing the account why is the send emails portion, if that is what it's doing, trying to access it again?

I'm already in and using the account?

An email client does not work in the same way that a browser does. Receiving messages involves a different server than sending messages so it is not necessary to "log out" of the account after receiving messages in order to send messages.

Without divulging your e-mail address or account name, what are your server settings, including server name, port number, and choices for "Connection security" and "Authentication method" for that outdrs.net POP account?

I think you need to change the server in SMTP to smtp.outdrs.net

The reason you are asked for your password when trying to send emails is because you are trying to send them using the incoming mail server mail.outdrs.net. You usually aren't asked for a password when sending email.

Changed it to what you suggested................. Nope didn't work................. same problem..............

I did not have this problem before when I imported setting to each newer version................ due to computer failures and such lost that............

now it no longer works..............

other email programs work but seamonkey no longer works correctly................. I have not tried thunderbird........... perhaps I will..........

Can't find a specific instruction page for configuring Outdoor net servers in Thunderbird. But looking at those for Outlook and several others:

Server name is used for both incoming and outgoing. They are differentiated by the port numbers used. This is not an uncommon setup.

Try this:

SMTP (outgoing)
Server: mail.outdrs.net, port 587
Connection Security: none
Authentication method: Password, transmitted insecurely
Username: your full email address

I see no mention of using an encrypted password.

full email address worked!

everything else was normal so.............. only change was from name to full email address...............
